How Sarah Palin Almost Saved The Campaign

Loading

As the left continues with their weird juvenile hatred of Sarah Palin with fantasies of infanticide and ignorant distortions, we get this great article on how Sarah Palin was the reason that McCain came as close as he did to Obama:

For all the tacky talk in media circles, where folks have extremely over-inflated opinions of themselves, one would think that Sarah Palin was the sole arbiter of Republican defeat this year.

What a pile of preposterous poppycock!

From the beginning of ‘08, the accepted wisdom was that no matter whom the Democrats nominated, they would deliver to the Republicans an ignominious defeat. But this year’s defeat was anything but the complete rout it was supposed to be.

And the person who nearly even saved the day — and the election — for Republicans was Sarah Palin.

This is not a minority opinion. When Rasmussen conducted detailed exit polling among Republicans, they found that a full 69% of respondents thought Sarah Palin helped — not hurt — McCain. Governor Palin has not garnered the status as America’s most highly regarded, most popular governor for nothing.

And how much do Republicans admire Sarah Palin? Far more than anyone else on our side of the aisle, according to more Rasmussen tidbits:

Ninety-one percent (91%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin, including 65% who say their view is very favorable. Only eight percent (8%) have an unfavorable view of her, including three percent (3%) very unfavorable.

When asked to choose among some of the GOP’s top names for their choice for the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, 64% say Palin. The next closest contenders are two former governors and unsuccessful challengers for the presidential nomination this year — Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 12% support and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 11%.

And just how was it that the pitbull in lipstick upset the pundits and the prognosticators this year, at least in the matter of degree?

The woman, in my opinion, is a natural Patton. A fighter to the core. Palin seems to instinctively know that when one is hip-deep in a culture war and a fight for the survival of American exceptionalism, then one must do more than defend, defend, defend.

If one is not willing to attack in defense of one’s cause, then he ought to get out of the way at the very least — or consider joining the other side.

At least that’s my paraphrase of one of the Patton doctrines.

Sarah Palin came out fighting on her night in the convention spotlight. In her speech, she relied on the same line of attack that catapulted her from Wasilla mayor to governor of Alaska: plainspoken, honest convictions and a sense of humor.

And she debuted with some of the most memorable lines of this entire campaign:

I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities.

I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.

We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

Sarah Palin’s appeal was her willingness to fight — and fight courageously — for the American taxpayers, the ones who actually pay the bills for all that bureaucratic largess and faux generosity.

The only reason many of us Republicans were able to vote for McCain without holding our noses was because of Sarah. If she is no threat why would the MSM and the left spend so much time trying to trash her? From her clothes to fake stories about Africa. Why? Because they know she is a political sensational. She came out of nowhere and in the final ten weeks pulled a loser of a campaign back into onto the race track.

“The only reason many of us Republicans were able to vote for McCain without holding our noses was because of Sarah”

SHE is the reason I voted Republican this time. I was 1 of 28 that voted Fred in our county, and he wasn’t even running then for the primaries in WA! I was all set to vote for Fred again, until Sarah came on board. I hope this is just one of many young and upcoming “new” conservatives out there. The old guard has strayed soooo far from the the basic conservative values, that it’s hard to tell them from the democrat party. Stick to the basics, and a conservative can’t loose.

Sarge
Conservative first
(Then I worry aobut the party affiliation)

I do hope you keep her in the limelight on the Republican side.
It will make it that much easier for the democrats to win again!!!

She got me to vote for McCain too. I might have stayed home because I see McCain as too liberal and foolish to boot. I mean McCain-Feingold was the worst thing to happen to presidential election money collecting ever and also an assault on free speech among individuals. I don’t like him and I don’t like the way he was foisted after having won six electoral votes in a single state’s primary. I thought you had to win a majority to be the candidate. But the ‘party’ simply announced that the primary was over before it had even begun and they decided that McCain was the guy. I never would have voted for him in the primary if everyone else had not been removed from the ballots before the vote.

After four years of Obama, Palin could walk into the White House. We have no way of knowing if Palin will even run in 2012, if not, we have outstanding Republican Governors that have already proven their leadership qualities are above and beyond what we are about to get from the manchild.

reckless, I agree as do many. McCain was an instant disappointment, Palin gave us a reason to vote.

Read this earlier today, three reasons why Obama wasn’t “swiftboated.” I don’t agree with the way the term is used, but, the information makes sense as to why McCain did not get a lot of monied outside help.

I hate to bring up the whole “Moderates vs. Conservatives” debate again, but that is how it appears to me. This is why you see a certain sect of “Republicans” trashing Sarah Palin, because she shows them as the weak cowards they are by simple comparison. She threatens their greasy grasp on favor from the left. Should Sarah and other strong leaders take the reigns of the Republican party, they will either have to fight, or slink off to the Democratic table to beg for scraps. Think Wormtongue in LoTR.

As for the Democrats and their media servants, of course they want to character assassinate strong leaders who might rise up and challenge them. They want spineless moderates in charge of the Republican party. Moderate= Chamberlain. Conservative= Churchill. The Bill of Rights= Demilitarized Rhineland, Austria, Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia proper, Danzig. No, I am not calling Barack Obama and the Democrats Nazis. I am saying that they play politics the same way. They push and push and grab all they think they can take and then some. Cooperating with them only encourages them to take more.

We need leaders like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal who are more concerned with restoring Constitutional rights that have already been eroded, not spineless Chamberlains and Daladiers who are too busy deciding how much they should give away to avoid being called names by the media.

I am all for being open minded and including more moderate voices. Beyond a certain point though, you begin excluding those who “brung you to the dance” and sounding an awful lot like your adversaries. Let some of these “moderates” join the Democrats. They could use some moderation.

I could not agree more, McCain should have lost by 10 points, Sarah is my hero and I will be on her bandwagon to be the first female president of the USA, after the one term wonder is out of the way.

I linked over to that speech and watched it again. She is so special it’s no wonder the dems fear her like they do and it’s especially no surprise at all that the scum in the left dominated MSM were more then happy to savage her. They must diminish any Republican that sparks our party.

There was never any doubt that McCain had my vote but still, Sarah was the reason that got me down to the Republican call center to help our party.

So, it’s highly likely Palin strikes a strong cord with our base. We should not forget her for 2012.

Joy Behar ripos Sarah Palin and leno rips her back. It was awesome. Go to http://www.thesarahpalinblog.com and vote for the most annoying person ever to host the view

I admire Gov. Palin mainly for her achievements. I like her speeches .I like her courage and her openness too. I like her energy policy.

To me the fact that the TelePrompTer did not work properly during her speech on the day of Republican Convention is something I never understood.

How they could have been so careless with such an important instrument during such an important speech?,

the fact that she perform flawless is for me a feat in itself. I wonder why no one mentions this….
where I am wrong?

She is the future leader of the freeworld. We will need one after 4 years of Obama and the left.

From the article: “Palin never stopped. She fought on until the final tally. Absolutely Patton style.”

Sarah spoke for so many of us by elevating issues and concerns that the “news” media were only too eager to ignore. But the bottom line is that she FOUGHT this campaign and had no intention of being the passive, go along to get along type who guarantee electoral failure.

Still, there were millions of conservatives who didn’t vote for the GOP this year. Whether out of disgust for the bailout, McCain or Bush, they just stayed home.

If we nominate a strong conservative leader who isn’t afraid to fight we can bring those millions back and win.

I had not donated a dime nor done anything for the Republican campaign until Sarah became the nominee, unfortunately only for VP. I spent all of my time after that working for the McCain campaign and donated what I could. If it weren’t for her, I would have held my nose and voted against Obama-not FOR McCain. Talking with many of the volunteers I worked with led me to believe that they were feeling the same way. We need to dump the RINOs (starting with their leader-McCain-and rebuild a conservative GOP!

One can only scratch one’s head and ponder the consequences of conservatives staying home in this election but some good has come from defeat. McCain and his limp-wristed RINO handmaidens would never go away. They had be culled from the herd if conservatives are ever going to re-establish a viable brand-name. That is what Sarah brings to the table. She means what she says and does not quibble about bi-partisanship. To quote Patton “Make the other S.O.B. die for his country”. Get along my ass

Honestly, I think Dennis Miller actually hit the nail on the head on O’Reilly the other night. Libs HATE Sarah for the very reasons we love her…she’s happy, strong in her love of country, faith and family (remember, we used to raise our kids to believe in those things!) she’s sexy, obviously loves her husband and she’s smarter than they are.

The girl has it all going on (as they say) and that infuriates the unhappy, whining me me me lefties to no end. Ticks off some conservatives to which I say BLAH! on you. She’s everything a woman can be if she chooses and look out, she’s coming for the Left!!

Hephaestus said: “McCain and his limp-wristed RINO handmaidens would never go away. They had be culled from the herd if conservatives are ever going to re-establish a viable brand-name. “

Unfortunately, the RINOs have NOT gone away. They are out there now proclaiming that the reason we lost is that McCain was TOO conservative and might have done better if he picked a more moderate VP.

Of course that is total garbage as everyone who followed the campaign on our side knows.

We may never win over the idiot Independentes and muddled moderates who stick their finger in the wind and follow whatever “news” media generated buzz there is to support the Democrats.

But we can win by motivating OUR side and having them do more than show up and vote.

Mike’s America,

I agree with motivating our side to do more than show up and vote. Many, including myself have lamented the sadly uneducated state of much of the populace. This blissful ignorance leads normal people, who may not be actual morons, into making very bad decisions such as electing any Democrat, at any time, under any circumstance. The poster, Real American Patriot is quite likely a very good example of this. Someone who has been so brain washed and ill educated by lies, distortions, and omissions as to believe that actively working for the destruction of America makes one a patriot. Progressives, Liberals, Socialists have been actively warping the information available to the average American citizen since the 1950’s and 60’s. Our education system has slowly stopped teaching our children what exactly it is that makes our country great, and what it is that our founding fathers envisioned and stood for. Meanwhile the media has grown ever more hostile towards these national traits until, to most people who do not seek out deeper sources of information, our national strengths are portrayed as weaknesses or even as somehow “evil”.

So, to my point. I can not afford to buy a television network, so how am I to fight back against the ever present “white noise” of liberal America hate? I can afford a computer printer, a few cartridges of black ink, and a few reams of colored printer paper. I plan on printing up hand bills on various topics as the Obama administration bumbles and stumbles along through economic disaster and diplomatic minefields. “Why can’t I find a job?” or “Why are taxes so high?” come to mind as topics. In these little one page tracts, I intend to explain very basic cause and effect. I intend to put the blame squarely on the Liberals, but in a pitying sort of way instead of hateful and angry. Explain to the average person that the liberals don’t necessarily want to cause these hardships. That they want to make things better, but they are trying the wrong things. Then explain what the right things are and who is working to try these “right” things. I figure that explaining that the Socialists are intentionally setting out to destroy America so that they have a permanent poor class to bribe for votes can come later.

I realize that handbills are not much more effective than email marketing, but it is something within my budget, and the papers I hand out “live” (instead of posting on grocery store notice boards etc.) will give me the chance to interact and make the message more interesting. By God, simple printed handbills were a vital weapon in our fight for independence from England, they might just help out in our current fight.

Does anyone have any advice/critiques that might refine my plan? I figure we need to share and network ideas to start our own campaign of education.

Amusing. RAP finally voted for a winner and thinks it’s validates his worldview. He’ll be very upset and screaming election fraud when obama loses in 4 years.

@Lightbringer: Great idea! But maybe one step further? How about getting an “internet brigade” together and pass along these flyers, but in the form of letters to the editor in local papers? I’d love to be put on the list and would be more than happy to “pass along” the info to the papers here.

Sarge

AF Sarge (and anyone else interested)-

I’ll be sure to make a bunch of noise here when I’m ready to start on these. It will not be long, although I am thinking that using topics that discuss changes that are occurring because of specific Obama administration/Dem congress actions will be harder hitting than just generic info on liberal policy fallacies. I’ll set up an email address dedicated to this project and post it here within the next couple of days.

And yes, if you can get the newspapers to print such “letters”, not only will more people see it, but spreading the same message across the country within a short time frame should be effective.

The real trick will be writing in a style that sounds sympathetic to the liberals while plainly pointing out their mistakes.

Sarah is the People’s Princess of Politics. She is self made, without artifice and does not suffer fools. In fact, she calls them out for what they are. She speaks to and for the people of the United States. Her day is coming.

After four years of the Manchurian president, the country will see its first female president. In two elections we will have erased racial division and broke the ultimate ‘glass ceiling’ for women.

I wonder what will the perpetually victimized liberals cling to after these perennial favorites are no longer available to them?

Sarah needs to do some homework in Alaska before she goes big time. This is horeific (Alaska spelling intentional)…..

@Richard:

Fair enough criticism, Richard. However, I noticed that Barack Obama’s history of failure in everything he has ever done, from his community organizing to his promise to send money to the school in Kenya to his work to improve Chicago public schools with the Chicago Anneberg Challenge, did not seem to hurt him at all while running for President.

Maybe Governor Palin does not need to do anything in order to succeed in national campaigns except to switch from the Republican Party to the Democrat Party where criminal activity, lying, smearing, racism and failure is rewarded.

Empirical observation of those around me had two voters who had leaned McCain switching to Obama over Palin and one McCain voter who made the extra effort to vote absentee (illegally) for Palin. Everybody else voted the same as they were always going to vote…

Maybe Governor Palin does not need to do anything in order to succeed in national campaigns except to switch from the Republican Party to the Democrat Party where criminal activity, lying, smearing, racism and failure is rewarded.

I didn’t know she was a criminal.

She was a lift when it had gone down yes, but they lost, so it wasn’t saved. Now it’s time to regroup, fresh faces, and get the money spending social illuminati out of office.
