Ayers Says He Was Never A Terrorist

Loading

Ah…..the sweet smell of moral equivalence in the morning. Here is William Ayers being interviewed on Good Morning America (Hot Air has the video) telling us why the things he did along with his group were a-ok:

“What you call the violent past, that was a time when thousands of people were being murdered every month by our own government.

~~~
We were on the right side,” he told “GMA.”
The co-founder of the Weather Underground was, as McCain has claimed, unrepentant about the the bombings his group committed during the 1960s.
“The content of the Vietnam protest is that there were despicable acts going on, but the despicable acts were being done by our government. … I never hurt or killed anyone,” Ayers said.
“Frankly, I don’t think we did enough, just as today I don’t think we’ve done enough to stop these wars,” he said.
It gets better:
The college professor also argued to “Good Morning America’s” Chris Cuomo today that the bombing campaign by the Weather Underground, the group he helped found, was not terrorism.
The Weather Underground bombed the Capitol, the Pentagon and the New York City Police Department in protest of the Vietnam War.
“It’s not terrorism because it doesn’t target people, to kill or injure,” Ayers said.
Not terrorism?
Tell that to those his group killed like Waverly Brown, Edward O’Grady, and Peter Paige.
You see they meant well. Hell, Hitler meant well also right? He just wanted to get his country back to their former glory you see.
So did Arafat.
They couldn’t be terrorists and murderers because it was all in good faith.
But here Ayers says that they just didn’t dig the war in Vietnam so they thought, “hey….lets set some bombs to terrorise the populace, its all good because we don’t MEAN to kill people.” I mean, who would think a bomb would actually kill a person…
Sigh…
Ayers and Dohrn were credibly accused, in classified testimony before a Senate subcommittee in 1974, of involvement in the murder of a police officer in San Francisco, as well as an attempted (and unsuccessful) anti-personnel bombing in Detroit. It is an aspect of Ayers’ story that the mainstream media has completely ignored and even covered up.
Ayers and Dohrn were never prosecuted for their alleged involvement in Weatherman terrorism because of government misconduct in gathering evidence against them. But Ayers has freely admitted to involvement in Weatherman bomb plots, and he has said he does not regret planting bombs. Ayers has defended his actions, arguing, “The reason we weren’t terrorists is that we did not commit random acts of terror against people.”
But Larry Grathwohl, an FBI mole within the Weathermen, connected Ayers to the planning — and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, to the execution— of a police station bombing in San Francisco in February 1970 that killed one officer and injured two others.
Grathwohl testified that Ayers had discussed the deadly incident after the fact. The revelation came as Ayers was talking about the organizational difficulties in running a terrorist cell:
[H]e cited as one of the real problems that someone like Bernardine Dohrn had to plan, develop, and carry out the bombing of the police station in San Francisco, and he specifically named her as the person that committed that act. . . . He said that the bomb was placed on the window ledge and he described the kind of bomb that was used to the extent of saying what kind of shrapnel was used in it. . . . [I]f he wasn’t there to see it, somebody who was there told him about it, because he stated it very emphatically.
Grathwohl also testified about an unsuccessful Weatherman bombing in Detroit, which he said Ayers had planned to be executed when the maximum number of people would be present:
The only time that I was ever instructed or we were ever instructed to place a bomb in a building at a time when there would be people in it was during the planning of the bombing at the Detroit Police Officers’ Association building and the 13th precinct in Detroit, Mich., at which time Bill said that we should plan our bombing to coincide with the time when there would be the most people in those buildings.
Grathwohl tipped off police to this latter plot, and they cleared the area. When they finally found the Detroit bomb, it was unexploded. It contained 13 sticks of dynamite with an M-80 firecracker to detonate them, along with a burnt-out cigarette.
Oh, and he downplayed his relationship with our new President also….no surprise there eh?
Ayers and Dorhn are despicable. They should be deported. GMA should be ashamed of themselves for giving him a platform to sell his book. It’s disgusting from start to finish.
Let’s see how long it takes the the trolls to defend them.
Just because Timothy McVeigh was more successful doesn’t change the meaning of domestic terrorist. What exactly do you call a person who wants to bring down the government through acts of terror? A school teacher, I would guess.
It’s amazing how much scrutiny the incoming admin will be doing in their hiring process. Yet the President-elect clearly with such a thorough background check for employees, must be looking for criteria that aligns with crusader arrogance and moral degeneracy, the likes of working together with anti-nationalists such as Ayers.
Will the public see his explanation is befuddled with cognitive dissonance or continue to be vexed by the make-believe messiah, thereby embracing Ayers explanation as sound and reasonable?
how do you spell bull shit.
This seems like such a non-story.
45 minutes before a lefty spoke up. Non story. Yeah, only because it’s a dem he’s conected to, huh?
I’m sorry that I read this before lunch. The stench of IMMORAL equivalence quite destroys my appetite, thank you very much…
An older lady that I work with was talking about this subject today. She was trying to explain away Ayers to this younger guy in his twenties. She was trying to say it was the Vietnam War and everyone was crazy and did crazy things back then. I guess that makes it all right then.
NOT.
It is called selective dementia. Old nasty hippies. They can fool the young ones, but their legacy is what they did. Anyone can find old footage of the two snot nosed turds spewing hate and violence. I do have to say that she was the smart one. He is a mouthpiece.
The FBI informant that infiltrated the group stands by what he said years ago. They wanted to bring down the government by any means.
I wonder if they ever contemplate who will be willing to change their diapers in the rest home someday in the near future? I mean he can’t remember anything these days.
Tammy, that’s an example of denial. I guess it makes her feel better about her generation and therfore herself.
We just experienced a coup in this country , and Ayers has gotten his wish. The government has been brought down. We are just like Europe now just like the Demoncrats have wanted for so long.
The crazy thing about this is that these guys are just going to slip on by and never face any consequences. The liberal illuminati are going to protect them because they are bed buddies. Hopefully they don’t get a place in Obama cabinet but i wouldn’t put it past him.
And perhaps Oprah will feature Ayers new edition of his book in her “book of the month club”…
Seriously, it is sooo perverse. I think the timing of his promoting his book has always been calculated. After 9-11 and now after this tragic election as well.
The ABC interviewer will be on Hannity and Colmes tonight!
how can it be ok that he did this? why arent we americans pissed about them getting away with this? why do they accept his reasoning, hell i have had crazy times in my life and i never have blown anything up. i already refuse to watch oprah, if she promotes this ass wipe i know plenty more who will.
The interviewer have Ayers a pass! He should have pressed him define what he means by ‘we didn’t do enough’.
*Sigh*
“The reason we weren’t terrorists is that we did not commit random acts of terror against people.”
How can anyone take Ayers’ excuse seriously? Terrorist actions are rarely of a random nature. They are well-organized, plotted, and carried out. IN most cases, the only random factor is in determining whether the conditions present offer a prime opportunity to act.
I still find it hard to believe that the judge threw out the Feds entire case against Ayers. Maybe that’s part of the problem with prosecution practices of “bundling” crimes instead of pursuing separate charges so they still have something to fall back on. That’s how they brought in Al Capone when he was being “protected” by Chicago corruption. I thought there were laws in place against people profiting from their crimes and the misery of the victims and their families as Ayers does with his books. One would think the families of those killed could have at least brought civil litigation against him.
TRUTHFUL DEFENSE?
“She was trying to say it was the Vietnam War and everyone was crazy and did crazy things back then.”
She obviosly is letting her partisan bias get in the way of the facts. Zombie already proved through a reading of Prarie Fire, from the words of Bill Ayers himself, that the justification for their terrorism was much more than just about Vietnam.
Ayers was not simply protesting “against” the Vietnam War. Firstly, he wasn’t against war in principle, he was agitating for the victory of the communist forces in Vietnam. In other words: He wasn’t against the war, he was against our side in the war. This is spelled out in great detail in Prairie Fire. Secondly, and more significantly, the Vietnam War was only one of many issues cited by the Weather Undergound as the justifications for their violent acts. As you will see below, in various quotes from Prairie Fire and in their own list of their violent actions (and in additional impartial documentary links), Ayers and the Weather Underground enumerated dozens of different grievances as the rationales for their bombings — their overarching goal being to inspire a violent mass uprising against the United States government in order to establish a communist “dictatorship of the proletariat,” in Ayers’ own words.
only in america! this pos going around blowing up buildings and leaving wounded and casualties, should be in jail rotting, but alas, he is in a university teaching kids! since obamba’s campaign, more than enough pieces of “s’ have slid from under their rocks, jeremiah wright etc. and now they have access to our highest office in the land and world for that matter. after this four years what will our beloved US be like?
Yeah right, and who wants to listen to what he has to say now? He has ties to the liberal illuminati and it was cowardly for him to speak about them after the election.
