doug do you just not want to admit the surge has been working? is this why your party, the party of tolerance and love and such, is attacking a woman for parenting choices and political choices that if she were a democrat would never be an issue? the democrats are attacking her and her child, her family because they don't want to see the trueth about iraq. yeah lets devert the public, lets attack and mother and her child, way to go, does that make you dem men feel better about yourselves? does it make you more manly? becasue as far as i can tell, the soldiers in iraq and sarah palin have far bigger balls than you. ask yourself why obama is flipping and sayingnow that we have to keep in iraq, ask yourself if you will continue to be an obamazombie.

Yeah, now if only it can keep itself together:

But, yes, we have come far in Anbar; from unimaginably ugly to fragile:
<blockquote>
...
Even so, the dynamic that has brought such calm to Anbar, welcome as it is, appears fragile in some respects. Former insurgents who spent years ambushing Americans now staff local police stations, or remain on the American payroll as loosely supervised gunmen working for the so-called Sunni Awakening Councils. Beyond that, many local Sunni leaders claim that the prevailing political arrangements leave them under-represented, and they are demanding a greater share of the spoils. Some have warned that fresh provincial elections must go forward if more violence is to be averted.

We didn't create the 'Awakening' (and we can't RE-create it in Afghanistan). As Biddle stated, 'we were lucky'. Now if we can only be honest with ourselves about this reality before we redeploy everyone from Anbar to Afghanistan, with another 'surge'.
