Sarah Palin?

Well, that’s a surprise, but I think very risky, a ‘maverick’ more for sure.

The obvious question is, as McCain has centered his campaign on the war on terror, is Palin ready, qualified, experienced enough to take the center stage, especially, when her boss has had skin cancer and is over 70?

Beyond that lack of foreign policy experience, she’s in the mist of scandal for an abuse of power in her home state, and has a weaker resume than Obama does. This lack of experience now flattens McCain’s argument that Obama is ‘not ready’, as now Obama is more qualified than Palin is comparatively. The argument is now off the table.

As I see it this is McCain’s attempt to woo some of those attractive Hillary supporters. The question is, will they go for it, or see through it? At least Hillary was experienced. I do think McCain has helped himself with evangelicals here.

I doubt she’ll lend support to McCain by expanding his appeal, like Biden did for Obama, I also question how Palin will energize their convention. Palin will be a standout as being one of the least qualified, youngest, and being near the only woman there: that will be her major standout quality. Whether she can dazzle the onlookers beyond that is up to her.
