Hillary Clinton Kicks Off 2012 Campaign in Convention Speech

Forget about Obama. Hillary is already looking ahead!

In her speech to the Democrat Convention in Denver (transcript) Hillary made all the right noises. She gave what appeared to be her full support to Obama dutifully mentioning his name 12 times and also bashing McCain and the GOP.

But, to my ears it sounded like a speech intended to signal Hillary’s run for President in 2012. It’s no secret Hillary thinks Obama can’t win in the general election against McCain so Tuesday’s speech was her best chance to stake her claim to the nomination in 2012. She’ll need some of those Obama voters next time around and that’s another reason she was so eager to be seen praising him Tuesday.

Hillary’s speech also gave her the chance to outshine vice presidential nominee Joe Biden who addresses the convention Wednesday evening. Biden may be planning to use his visibility as the V.P. candidate for another run at the top job in 2012.

Poor Obama. In a convention that is supposed to be all about him, it’s turning into a convention that’s all about his replacement!

He interpreted the way he saw it and he shared his interpretation. Hence the “But, to my ears…” It’s an opinion, Fit fit, and he’s entitled to it. You don’t have to agree.

It was a great acceptance speech. I mean endorsementof Obama.

Dick Morris says “That was one of Hillary finest speech’s he’s ever heard.” But he did point out that in fact it was too good. (paraphrasing) “Her speech was so good that when Biden finishes his speech that will not reach the level of Hillarys, Democrats will wonder why she wasn’t picked for the VP slot.”

So, when all this is over, questions will remain: Did Bon Jovi give Obama the convention bounce he needed? Did Hillary’s “check” clear prior to her speech? Did the last Democratic President do all he could to heal the wounds or is his check still in the mail? Did the Invesco Field stage (turned into a Greek Temple) remind us that a new God has emerged to save the planet? Will any of this help Michelle’s children?

Celebrity——thy name is Obama.

Meanwhile, John McCain’s lead in Florida surges to seven points.

When McCains landslide victory sweeps this nation, another round of saddened Democrats will be throwing a fit-fit.

If Hussein O wins that will be the last we see of Shrillary unless she becomes ‘Hussein’s Monica’ under the desk. You know a democrat, anything to get in the news.

I probably said this a few times already. Hillary has nothing to gain by supporting Obama. She will be weakened in Congress if he is elected and the Clinton legacy becomes irrelevant, not due to Republican efforts, but to Democratic efforts. Although, the next question is what happens if she is successful at throwing the race and McCain wins. A lot of people will blame Hillary, but at least she remains relevant. If McCain wins, how will Hillary play her hand? How does she gain the upper-hand in Congress? I think she has to isolate those that were against her and form a new core of supporters, which means she has to make Kennedy and Obama irrelevant in Congress and form a group of Senators to act as a counterbalance. I think the core probably would be Cantwell, Murray, Schumer, probably Rockerfeller and other moderates or junior Senators.

Mike you are so predicable.. Just more right wing talking points. Nothing of value.
The Dems are now even more united to “Take Back America.”
I hope you enjoy the next 4 years of Obama in the White House.
Grandpy McCain will not be there.

Someone in this string actually quoting a Fox News BSer who would have guessed?
Do you actually believe anyone from Fox News is creditable? Dick Morris?? come on.
They are just a bunch of right wing spinsters with nothing of value or truth to say.

“Grandpy McCain will not be there. ” Biden will be 70 years old as VP. I don’t think he’ll be running for president.

Pretty clear to me that the kook talking points “Real American Patriot” is reading from just got answered by Ann.

“On to 2012″ doesn’t sound like a rallying cry for unity!

You’re so right RAP, I should quote some one with real credibility like Keith Olbermann or Chrissy Matthews that have their collective heads so far up Obama’s butt, only Chrissy’s leg is visably shaking.

Update/Correction: Dafydd at Big Lizards says the “greek temple” at Invesco is none other than the pillers of the White House:

Exit questions: Has Michelle got those WH curtains measured yet? Will Mrs. Kerry or Mrs. Gore recieve an invitation to the first state dinner? Will the percentage of the rise in fuel prices equal the amount of tax increases Obama plans to balance his socialist give-aways?

Rovin - it’s not only Olbermann and Matthews… it’s the mainstream like Couric, CNN, NYT, all of MSNBC and the other hatemongers. On a daily basis, they have to correct the lies and propaganda they put out. The only people willing to tell the truth and point out the lies and half-truths is Fox News.

Thomas you are to funny!! Fox News wouldn’t know the truth if it stared them in the face.
They are so full of spin and half truths it’s a pain to watch. I usually have to switch the channel because I can’t stand the right wing spin any longer.

I guess Heraldo, Greta, Harold Ford and Bob Beckel would argue with you on that one. Those are just a few of the Lefties at FOX News.

You are a parody of the entire Nutroots. FAUX News and all that crap. Oh and Bush is a criminal also that needs to be impeached.

Pure BS. 100% grade A manure.

I COMPLETELY agree with you, Mike. I forced myself to watch it, and that’s what I heard throughout her whole speech…2012, 2012, 2012!!!

When the camera panned to Michelle, I thought she looked like she pretty much wanted to bite Hillary’s head off most of the time. The only time she looked more relaxed was after Hillary said, “That’s why we need to elect Barack Obama!”

SoCal: Fox News needs to get one of those body language readers to study Michelle Obama’s steely pose throughout Hillary’s speech. I’m not a mind reader, but I can see something thinking “BITCH” when I see it.

While I could not watch the speech I DVR’ed it and it was unquestionably NOT what the Obama campaign wanted. She talked for the first twelve minutes about herself!

This speech and the very lame Warner speech before it were the icing on the cake for the first two days. Democrats still do not get it. Everyone in Denver talks about how wonderful everything will be when Obama wins, but they have no idea how to put up a fight!

The Bouce so far is 2% points in favor of McCain according the Gallup.

This fight is over in three… two… one…

Come to think of it, what are the chances the Obama Delegates Boo Former President Bill Clinton tonight?

i wonder why liberals come here to try and spew crap, what point are they trying to make? we know they are full of it, that they would rather live off of the government and have the government tell them when to go poo, but really, why do they torture us so? and when they come here they are not always very polite, they usually are very rude and nasty. i just don’t get it? am i missing that this is a form of entertainment?

Well, it was interesting seeing Hilary Clinton cede Broom One to Michelle Obama. To carry on like an olympic flame so to speak. Michelle is a worthy recipient and standard bearer regardless of her Laura Petrie facade the other night..

BREAKING STORY

Denver Cops don’t bust thugs yelling “kill Michelle Malkin” and pushing one of her companions.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-DoxqvqjxM

But, the Denver Keystone Kops arrest reporter to prevent him from taking pictures of Dems on the take. He was just exercising his first ammendment rights on public property, and they pushed him into traffic, arrested and intimidated him.

Will the MSM realize O’Bomber is NOT their friend? Will they realize that he’s just using them, and if he ever gets to be in charge, they won’t be able to say anything he doesn’t allow them to, and only what he tells them to?

He’s a Lefty radio jock trying to drum up publicity for himself. He’s a nothing.

What I’m worried about is suppression of free speech by dirty politicians and the dirty cops who work for them. I was just bringing that out to contrast the fact that they weren’t arrested for their unlawful behavior, but the ABC journalist was for merely getting a legitimate story in a legitimate way.

Now I not only detest Obama and the Dems, but I think Denver sucks, too!
