Obama impatient with “reverence” of Change mantra

I see Mike’sA and I are running in parallel again… but I’m going to highlight the AP article he mentioned as well, because I picked up something I think is more important.. and that’s Obama’s obvious recognization that his image as America’s savior may possibly be thwarting his ambitions.

AP’s Ron Fournier doesn’t pull any punches on his perceptions of Obama’s choice of veep. The glaring headline alone is a rip… Analysis: Biden pick shows lack of confidence

He brought up what hit my mind first… that for all his promises to change the beltway, he picked a veteran beltway insider.

In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness — inexperience in office and on foreign policy — rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

He picked a 35-year veteran of the Senate — the ultimate insider — rather than a candidate from outside Washington, such as Govs. Tim Kaine of Virginia or Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas; or from outside his party, such as Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska; or from outside the mostly white male club of vice presidential candidates. Hillary Rodham Clinton didn’t even make his short list.

The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn’t beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden pick is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative — a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image.

So adding to the bodies under the bus, another Obama campaign promise of “change”. There will be no changing how the beltway works. There will only be unobstructed socialist policies if the DNC sweeps the WH, and maintains (or gains more) control over both houses in Congress.

But for me, the most interesting paragraph was further down, confirming to me that Obama was nothing more than an overly ambitious politician – utilizing image makers via the modern technology of Internet, and against the backdrop of shows that rival rock concerts and the WWW – to pave his path to the highest office in the free world.

A senior Obama adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity, said his boss has expressed impatience with what he calls a “reverence” inside his campaign for his message of change and new politics. In other words, Obama is willing — even eager — to risk what got him this far if it gets him to the White House.

There’s a real problem looming when you are ready to dump a theme after successfully convincing the world to believe that promise. Axelrod designed this well worn and tired “change” theme for him… as he’s done for others before. But instead of it being another throwaway word, like in previous campaigns, Obama demonstrated a remarkable ability to coerce his following into a genuine belief.

But now, from inside the Obama campa, comes the truth. The object is to win… not fulfill promises. And he thinks Biden can help him do just that… despite the logic it goes against everything he has projected about himself as a future POTUS.

He’s proven he’s nothing more than another power hungry politician… only with a smoother delivery… and armed with a better event marketing manager who knows how to appeal to the youth.

But that pesky “reverence” for his promises that his following has? Nothing more than a distraction, getting in the way of his goal. If this is an example of moral convictions, we’d be in for a long four years under a President Obama.

I almost busted my gut laughing when I heard Obama had picked Biden. If Obama picke him to compensate for his own lack of experience, I think he is in for a huge surprise. If the two of them get into a one on one conversation they will talk each other to death.

All in all I think it is a good pick though. They complement each other, an empty suit and an empty head. It will be fun watching the Republicans turn Biden’s many stupid statements against him.
