For Obama, as with all Dems, voting on the issue of offshore drilling now would mean casting their position in stone. If the vote were to favor offshore drilling, as most Americans do, this could be seen as uplifting for Republicans. And, the real reason for this charade is that Obama does not support (at all) any offshore drilling -- at least not now. You see, if the Dems agree to offshore drilling and the price of gas goes down, no more disgruntled electorate. The economy might get better prior to the election. For the Dems this is a no-no. So, the Dems have to keep up the hate factor for the current administration (Republican). Hate Bush and the Republicans for high oil prices. Even though the Dems could help solve the issue of high gas prices. This again is Obama and the Dems putting politics ahead of what's good for our country.
