Where do you get that idea? When have the defeatists EVER been united with the rest of us to see Iraq succeed?

Well...Lanny Davis, for one.

Not all political opponents are "defeatists" and anti-war "moonbats".

"I can only hope that the partisanship regarding the Iraq War does not get in the way of all Americans united in the desire to see Iraq succeed as a peaceful, stable, democratic nation."

"all Americans united in the desire to see Iraq succeed "

Obama is still can't admit that opposing the surge was a good idea. If he had his way Iraq WOULD be in a state of civil war with massive sectarian violence spiraling out of control.

Beyond the simple metrics of VICTORY that President Bush laid out (an Iraq that can defend and govern itself and be an ally in the war on terror) the greater geostrategic goal of a Muslim nation in the heart of the Middle East rejecting extremism is now within our grasp.

It's a tremendous victory that may one day be seen as the turning point in the entire conflict with Islamic extremism.
