In McCain, his words match his actions and his record.

That takes character, Arthur. It doesn’t mean you have to vote for him, or agree with his politics. But it should command some goddamn respect out of your partisan peabrain.

Respect? For the tag line where he suggests his political opponent is a traitor?

I am giving the man exactly the respect he deserves.

I particularly enjoy the ‘victory’ and ‘honor’ part.

I also enjoy the blurring and exaggeration of just what the ’surge’ has accomplished.

I hate to break it to you Mike but McCain did indeed give a speech and you provided an actual quote of the speech where he *said* what he said.

But hey it’s your thread and if I’ve learned anything about you it’s to that you will ignore your own words as they become, as one of your heroes would say, ‘inoperative’.

Do you recall the time period when McCain had made that statement? After Bush’s SotU 2007 speech about the new change in strategy, only 38% of Americans approved of it according to Gallup; and for the first time, a plurality of Americans- 47-49%, believed that the U.S. was likely to lose the war. With the war being unpopular, political cowards who blow with the wind, could easily cast their lot in with the mood of the public. McCain didn’t do that. He staked his presidential-aspirant neck out, because he put the importance of America winning a war as being far more important than his presidential aspiration.

Compare that to the empty suit you worship blindly.

We do not elect people to do exactly waht we sayand tell them to do. That is mob rule, we have a Democratic Republic, in which we vote people to vote their conscience, not for us to tell them exactly what to do. And if that means losing an election as McCain has said, that is how the country should work. More power to him. I can not stand politicians changing their views every other day as Obama has.

We need more history lessons here again.

You will have noticed that every time we get a very clear and irrefutable distinction between McCain and Obama the neocommies show up wiuth their noise machine.

They’re like children who don’t want to hear something and stick their fingers in their ears and shout “lalalalalalalalala” to keep from hearing anything that might upset their apple cart.

They’ve built Obama’s candidacy like a house of cards. Or I as like to say, a house of canards.

And they can’t afford to let the wind of truth blow too close to that fragile construction of lies, false hopes and demagougery.

People should keep in mind how pessimistic public opinion was, at the time President Bush announced the new strategy and troop surge, and how McCain did stake his political neck out on it.
