ABC News Asks 60 Soldiers Who They’ll Vote for – Doesn’t Report the 54 For McCain [Reader Post]

From Right Wing Dog.

This from Major General (ret) Buckman.

My niece, Katelyn, stationed at Baluud , Iraq was assigned, with others of her detachment, to be escort/guard/watcher for Martha Raddatz of ABC News as she covered John McCain’s recent trip to Iraq.

Katelyn and her Captain stood directly behind Raddatz as she queried GI’s walking past. They kept count of the GI’s and you should remember these numbers. She asked 60 GI’s who they planned to vote for in November. 54 said John McCain, 4 for Obama, and 2 for Hillary.

Katelyn called home and told her Mom and Dad to watch ABC news the next night because she was standing directly behind Raddatz and maybe they’d see her on TV. Mom and Dad of course, called and emailed all the kinfolk to watch the newscast and maybe see Katelyn.

Well, of course, we all watched and what we saw wasn’t a glimpse of Katelyn, but got a hell’uva view of skewed news. After a dissertation on McCain’s trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GI’s being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November; 3 for Obama and 2 for Clinton .. No mention of the 54 for McCain.

Ah, the irony of American Patriots protecting the press from harm while the reporter prepares a completely misleading story about which candidate the soldiers prefer. The reporter obviously thought her escort was comprised of brainless morons who wouldn’t see what was going on in front of them. Wouldn’t be the first time a reporter in the MSM turned out to be the brainless moron.

Support the troops. Pass this along.

hate to rain on the parade – but give a read at http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/raddatz.asp

especially give a read to ms raddatz’s email at the end of the snopes piece……not that it lends any credibility to this one way or the other – but fair and balanced is fair and balanced! 🙂 🙂

Glad you checked dons_mind. It sounded like one of those internet stories, but Snopes verified that it was “largely true” as it related to the report Raddatz made.

And of course we all know that many of these polls touting Obama being ahead are rigged with larger numbers of Democrats participating.

I don’t think there is any doubt where the military stands in this election. McCain, a war hero vs. Obama the Community Organizer and Chicago snake oil peddler.

Not quite the same, but still within the realm of “on-topic”:

Greetings:

There has been underway for quite a while a movement to establish a special status for media types to protect them from having to reveal their sources to the government when they find it inconvenient to do so. Euphemistically, the proposed action is referred to as a “Shield Law” but it might be better named the “All Animals are Equal; some Animals are more Equal Law” (with appropriate apologies to George Orwell).

Maybe, when our illustrious legislators are putting together the bill, they can add on a couple of sections concerning journalistic malpractice of which this anecdote might be a prime example.

the media rarelly gets it right. in a high school history book i had it stated that pearl harbor was a mistake and the japanese never meant to hurt anyone, guess they forget to explain that to the kamkazi pilots. it can be very hard to find the trueth. my brother in law believes that if maccain is elected our country will be turned into a war machine and all young men will be sent off to war, guess who he si still supporting? hillary. very funny how ignorant some can be.
