Whoa… bolt from the blue from the NY Post

By CHARLES HURT

June 13, 2008 —

Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of “Meet the Press,” has died after collapsing at NBC’s Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.

Russert, who rose from the inside world of politics where he was former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo’s press secretary and one-time chief of staff to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, was able to successfully cross over to political journalism and rise to become one of its leading lights.

So very sad.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Although a lib he was a good one; generally fair and always smart. He maintained cordial relations with folks like Rush and Sean and sometimes annoyed the Right without generating any real antipathy.

Also the enjoyment he took in his job and in politics was as contagious as his devotion to his family was endearing.

Sad news. Far too young.

Condolences to his family.

This was a real shock to me, as it was to everyone, I’m sure. The more I’ve heard about him as a “professional” today, I realized that, though I didn’t agree with his political viewpoint, he was good at his job and worked hard at it.

I will keep his family in my thoughts, especially his son after just graduating and spending time together with his dad, and now Father’s Day coming up. It’s a lot to bear. God bless the Russert family at this time.
