Folks are going to miss this President come January. I think he has been a great leader in very difficult times. He is a man who says what he means and does what he says. He is a man of character and real conviction and a man who knows the heavy burden of responsibility of sending young men to war. He did it because he knew it had to be done. We will thank him for it in the years to come... even if the media refuse to take their heads out of the sand! God bless our President!

Just do not feed the troll. Every time hecomes byhe knows everything about all conservatives and has no substance other than the DNC talking points of the day.

If he would actually read the stories and the post, he would see that European countries are electing people that are more aligned with the US than before. Hell, France actually voted in someone that doesn't look down their nose at the US.

[Official US policy to torture prisoners]

Re: "And now you crossed yet another line with your moronic lies and attacks you ignorant piece of filth!"

Re: "No one in the Bush Admin declared the torture of prisoners is an official American policy.
Please toss out link and quote, or retract"

WASHINGTON - Bush administration officials from Vice President Dick Cheney on down signed off on using harsh interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists after asking the Justice Department to endorse their legality, The Associated Press has learned.

The officials also took care to insulate President Bush from a series of meetings where CIA interrogation methods, including waterboarding, which simulates drowning, were discussed and ultimately approved.

A former senior U.S. intelligence official familiar with the meetings described them April 10 to the AP to confirm details first reported by ABC News on Wednesday. The intelligence official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to publicly discuss the issue.

Between 2002 and 2003, the Justice Department issued several memos from its Office of Legal Counsel that justified using the interrogation tactics, including ones that critics call torture.

Well you certainly raised the civil and respectful tone of the discourse, didn't you? Before stepping into the middle of things here, maybe you should reread comment #5. Chris isn't addressing a first-timer, but a spammer whose comments never evolves beyond a cut-and-paste broken recording of his previous comments. So there's a history here that you might be unaware of.

Thanks for the compliments, btw.

"ignorant piece of filth"? So that's how you reply to someone that you don't agree with?

It has always seemed to me that far too many conservative commentators find torture to be a trivial thing and even something they are proud of... as long as it is being done to the right people. Philadelphia Steve isn't alone on that assertion.

I've happened across this blog many times from other blogs and have found it to be a piece of trash. The articles range from tabloid rants about things like "Hellbollah-style fist bumps" and trying to call anybody who doesn't share your extreme wingnut views as "socialists", "communists" and whatever labels you can dig up.

It is people like you (authors of this blog) who are keeping the United States from reaching its full potential by voting for people like Bush and for spreading the kind of intellectually dishonest crap that you do. Give it up... things went your way for the past seven years under the Bush administration and it utterly blew up in your collective face. Now it will take a generation to undo the damage.

Thanks...

Dave,

Do a search on Steve's asinine attacks and copy/paste mantras. There IS no substance in his comments. The above comment he made is a flat out LIE and attack which I will not accept. I have given Steve substance in many other responses, as have others for months. Steve responds with a copy/paste response and then BS like the above.

Steve crossed many lines before with his stupidity. He crossed another with the above.

But thank you for your concern.

Despite the polls, Bush has remainded amazingly relevant. Bush's power comes from the fact that he doesn't care in the slightest what "approval polls" say, and everyone knows that he doesn't care. He's done running for office. To the left, he's a "loose cannon" and an individual who is perfectly willing to let his popularity "fall on the sword" to get what he wants. That scares the poll-driven left to death, and Europeans as well. And that's why Bush is succeeding in his foreign policy in transforming Europe into a place with a modicum of backbone again and sowing the seed of liberty in the middle east. Fifty years from now, Bush might just be remembered as the "Father of Middle Eastern Democracy".

The fact that America's allies still talk to a lame duck president, with under 30% approval ratings at home, and even lower approval ratings abroad does indicate the continued importance of the United States in the world.
