Senator Ted Kennedy Has Malignant Brain Tumor

Posted by: Mike's America @ 11:44 am in Politics  | 1,507 views

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!

Many readers here have long disagreed, often vehemently, with the politics of Senator Edward Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts. However, all that is swept aside for now by the sad news that the last great Kennedy Lion has been stricken with a brain tumor.

L – R: American politician brothers, US attorney-general Robert Kennedy (1925 – 1968), US senator Edward Kennedy, and US president John F. Kennedy (1917 – 1963) speak while seated behind a desk, circa 1962. (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)

The Kennedy family has been a staple of American politics from the 20th Century into the 21st. My own first political memory was when I was five years old and wondered why my mother was crying as she did the ironing and watched television. On TV was the funeral of President John F. Kennedy.

All American families are touched by tragedy and sadness at some point, but the Kennedy’s have had more than their share.

On behalf of all Flopping Aces readers I wish Senator Kennedy and his family well during this difficult time.

I disagreed with just about everything he stood for, but I do not wish him a horrible death. Praying for him and his family. I’d rather voters sent him packing, not a fatal illness.

Yes we may not agree with him politically, but he should be respected. Keep his family in your thoughts.

I have to admit that when I heard he was admitted to the hospital, I said, “I hope it’s serious”. But that was an unworthy thought. That is a nasty disease and as much as I think Sen. Kennedy has damaged our country over the years, he does not deserve such a curse.

My prayers are with him, but allow me a small allowance to say that if those prayers are answered, it would be nice if he finally had to retire ;-)

More very rough waters ahead for the Kennedy family, accoeding to the following site, 37 weeks after treatment, a grim prognosis for them to face. Peace and strength to his family.

I agree with the above sentiments. I also just can’t help but draw a bit of pride in the difference I see here as compared to
what would be seen on the other sides blogs were a prominent Conservative have been the one to suffer this horrible diagnosis.

As Joseph Campbell said, ‘I sometimes look on my enemies and I am proud.’ In this case I look on my compatriots and comparison
to my political enemies, and I am proud.

My prayers and best wishes to the Kennedy family. As others have stated, though I have no love for Kennedy’s politics and practices, cancer and illness in general are outside politics.

That picture – three brothers at the apex of power in America, and it all passes. It all passes in the end…

Kudos to Flopping Aces for showing the true difference between conservatives and liberals. My thoughts and prayers are also with the family, as this is a malady not to be wished on anyone.

Excuse me. But I have never delighted in the suffering of anyone, Conservative or Liberal. this is not the place for a soapbox speech.

I never once spoke of any delight in what had to be massive famliy pain in the death of Ronald Reagan or Charleton Heston. and, while I can guarantee that there will always be someone, somewhere who will say something stupid, I no more appreciate being lumped in with that 1% than you do.

Then why’d you stand on yours?

Just give your well-wishes to the Senator and then be done with you.

Steve,

You are waaayyy off base, even for you. Disgusting and narcassistic as usual, and your persecution complex is showing…. again.

Before you make an ass of yourself, again, and cry that standards are different for “conservatives”, the VERY FEW hateful remarks made towards the Senator were deleted. Your soapbox was allowed.

On news of the topic. The writers of Missy’s link were phophetic. It is all over the news today. One year of steady deterioration is a terrible prospect. Even with all the medical care available, Sen Kennedy faces a very grim prognosis. Again, best wishes to the Kennedy family and his loved ones.

Steve,

In all seriousness, no one called your name or singled you out for ridicule. No one lumped you in either.

When Reagan died, the vitriol coming from the Left was like raw sewage.

When there was an attempt on Cheney’s life in Afghanistan, the response was identical.

Did you read the garbage that the Left spewed forth when Charlton Heston died?

I’m not even going to begin to address the things that have been said about President Bush.

How about the extensive post on HuffPo about the wedding of Jena Bush? Didn’t see that? Well I won’t link it here because it was so far down into the gutter that it doesn’t deserve being given the added traffic. Suffice it to say that “breathtaking” comes to mind.

Anytime something happens to a Conservative, the far Left wackos come flooding out of the woodwork with their nastiness.

As a result places like HuffPo, etc. have to close down their comments sections because they know what is coming their way.

To claim it is 1% is just a way for you to minimize it and unless you can justify that number with factual data, then it’s just more drivel.

You, on the other hand, like to come here and use phrases like “all Conservatives” or “every Conservative” which is likewise disingenuous because unless you have talked to and evaluated “all” or “every” Conservative you cannot honestly make such a statement.

Yet you have the nerve to squeal when you feel slighted, even though you weren’t.

Perhaps you, like Obie, are possessed of a guilty conscience and therefore see every criticism as being aimed at you.

They say that the person who gets their toes stepped on will be the person who complains.

ChrisG,

Same old Steve…..projecting his hate and conspiracy theories.

My condolences to the Kennedy family for such bad news. While I disagreed with almost everything Ted believed in and worked for I would not wish this on anyone.

You left out Tony Snow and the DU reaction to his cancer.

It’s too late for deletion; as soon as we began patting ourselves on the back, we opened this up for derailment. Philly Steve could have been “the bigger man”, and not allow his ego to be baited. Of course, that would mean Steve would actually have to possess class and a sense of propriety.

Aye: You didn’t cross the lines of propriety. There’s no need to delete your comment. It doesn’t hurt to point out the differences in attitudes between conservative bloggers and liberal bloggers.

And I do not mean to imply that ALL liberal blog enthusiasts resort to the low class behavior you mentioned.

But I do find it interesting that Philly Steve just jumped to the conclusion that somehow he was being singled out for that offensive behavior.

Reminds me of Obama going on the defensive when Bush mentioned the evils of appeasement.

I said then: if the shoe fits, wear it.

I wish Senator Kennedy & family the best. I know from experience just how devastating cancer is.

As to the other topics discussed in the comments:

It’s easy to wish harm on ones adversaries – political or otherwise, when one considers their motives evil. I rarely see that type of response from conservative sources and often see it from liberal sources. Of course, I have no hard numbers to support either claim, just my own anecdotal experience.

I just consider those I disagree with to be wrong, not evil. Considering that I have been wrong in the past and am sure to be again, I do not want others hating or wishing me harm for it. I try to extend that respect to others as well. No matter how opposed to their beliefs I may be.

Liberalism is a mental disorder but, it does not cause cancer.
