It’s a Vast Wright-Wing Conspiracy!

Who arranged Reverend Wright’s speaking engagement at the National Press Club?

Our World As We See It:

Barbara Reynolds, a former USA Today editorial journalist who just happens to be
1. A Minister
2. A Hillary Clinton Supporter
3. A Woman who has her own Personal Blog

According to DD2, Reynold’s blog was taken down at 9:30am this morning (link to her website; also, while checking cached posts, this link to her blog works). He copied down one paragraph from her blog, before it happened:

“Like many African American women, I have struggled with the dilemma of selecting a black man or a white woman to go against warmonger Sen. John McCain. My problem was that both Senators Obama and Clinton are darn good. Finally I voted for Senator Clinton. My first reason was that as seductive as Obama’s mantra of hope, the Clintons legacy of help is more substantive and stronger. Hope by definition is not based on facts. It is an emotional expectation. Things hoped for may or may not come. But help based on experience trumps hope every time. How do you abandon someone like Hillary Clinton, who at every opportunity worked for causes benefiting the poor, especially children? Her work began in her early days with her mentor Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’’s Defense Fund and at Yale Law School, where she pursued children’’s studies. Early on her stated life’s goal was to be a “voice for America’s children.”

nydailynews, by way of DU:

A former editorial board member at USA Today, she runs something called Reynolds News Services and teaches ministry at the Howard University School of Divinity. (She is an ordained minister).

It also turns out that Reynolds - introduced Monday as a member of the National Press Club “who organized” the event - is an enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter.

On a blog linked to her Web site- http://www.reynoldsnews.com - Reynolds said in a February post: “My vote for Hillary in the Maryland primary was my way of saying thank you” to Clinton and her husband for the successes of Bill Clinton’s presidency.

The same post criticized Obama’s “Audacity of Hope” theme: “Hope by definition is not based on facts,” wrote Reynolds. It is an emotional expectation. Things hoped for may or may not come. But help based on experience trumps hope every time.”

In another blog entry, Reynolds gives an ever-sharper critique of Obama: “It is a sad testimony that to protect his credentials as a unifier above the fray, the senator is fueling the media characterization that Rev. Dr. Wright is some retiring old uncle in the church basement.”

I don’t know if Reynolds’ eagerness to help Wright stage a disastrous news conference with the national media was a way of trying to help Clinton - my queries to Reynolds by phone and e-mail weren’t returned yesterday - but it’s safe to say she didn’t see any conflict between promoting Wright and supporting Clinton.

I found the entry DD2 had published, cached. Here’s the whole entry, dated February 14th:

HOPE

By Dr. Barbara A. Reynolds

Never before has the political clout of African-American women been so crucial as in this presidential race when they make up as high as two-thirds of registered black voters. Black women voters are the primary reason why Senator Barack Obama pulled Oprah and Senator Clinton garnered Maya Angelo and the majority of the black women in the Congressional Black Caucus in their respective camps.
As expected Sen. Barack Obama trounced Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Chesapeake Trifecta of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
With most of my Maryland and DC friends beating the drum for Sen. Obama, I tried to join the parade. Usually I am a drum major, leading momentum, but not this time.
Like many African American women, I have struggled with the dilemma of selecting a black man or a white woman to go against warmonger Sen. John McCain. My problem was that both Senators Obama and Clinton are darn good.
Finally I voted for Senator Clinton. My first reason was that as seductive as Obama’s mantra of hope, the Clintons legacy of help is more substantive and stronger.

“Warmonger” McCain? Gimme a break. Only half minded parrots who echo their spoonfed talking points as if they were their own still believe that he wants 100yrs of war. Everyone else has seen the full quote from him where he says it’s ok to be in Iraq for 100 yrs IF NO ONE IS GETTING KILLED.

Classic blind partisanship never fails to overpower and outshout one’s intelligence.

Now that the dust has settled and we can see the trees in the forest of media spin and soundbites it would appear that all the negative energy spent by the kitchen sink strategy department has fizzled out and the wreck a candidate campaign truck has an engine blow out and had to stop in the pits for a complete engine overhaul.Well it’s just too late because the Barak political racing machine is just warming up and going into high revs and looks like the finishing line is just around the corner and the race will soon be over with a triumphant winner and one sorry sore loser.
Reality check up on streetwise politics says the word on the street is that Hillary may have done Barak a big favour on the O’Reilly factor Interview because most sitting on the fence voters can see clearly now. They can see media frenzy tried to hoodwink them that it was over for Barak. But it ain’t over til the lady sings. and on Friday it will be over. Barak will have won by a margin of 17%. “So who is a fooling a who?” as some wise song writer sang.Looks like the shoe is on the other foot. That’s right. What goes around comes around. A new day is dawning. Time for a breath of fresh air. Watch the press for details of the BARAK OBAMA LANDSLIDE VICTORY, next week. Errol Smythe

Some people may be jumping up and down with glee. They may revel in this kind of media frenzy. It ain’t good. It is sickening to see some self proclaimed political experts performing post operative post mortems on the Obama and Wright association.
Some one brewed up this crazy brew of media frenzy tonic in their twisted demented diabolical minds and are trying to destroy two people ,Barak and Reverend Jeremiah Wright.
It ain’t right. It is bad. There is need for forgiveness, for clearing the air, for reconciliation.
All this media frenzy is like piranha’s in the water looking for the next meal.
When the feeding frenzy is over, the waters recede to blessed quietness stained with the blood of the piranha’s latest victim.
It is sad that there is all this denouncing this and denouncing that in the public arena when more substantial issues are placed in the abeyance tray awaiting appropriate action.
Politricks is a dirty game.
Barak is being attacked for his association to Reverend Wright to cause confusion amongst the black electorate.
The next line of attack will be his name, then his speeches, then his voting record, then what he didn’t say, then what he should say, then he is not black enough, then he is not a good candidate….etc etc…THESE ARE ALL DELIBERATE DEVISIVE TACTICS engineered by someone that has a lot to gain and a lot to lose…Barack should remain focused.
Barak has nothing to be ashamed of. He should remain focused and by pass all this messy mudslinging kitchen sink strategy. The saying holds true WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. It won’t be long before Barak will be nominated by the superdelegates and have the task of healing the Democratic party torn by selfish destructive ambitions of YOU KNOW WHO. Errol Smythe.

Is it necessary to do or say some mind boggling thing to get media attention. I don’tknow . It’s just politricks.
Preachers know that to grab the attention of a mind wandering audience,in your sermon you build a figurative bridge, build a figurative fire, then destroy the figurative bridge if necessary so that people can examine their options.Your sermon soaked in prayer backed up with scripture from the Bible then has got their attention.
Julius Caesar, history tells us, once did something similar by ordering his army the centurions etc to burn their ships on the shores of a foreign land.
Julius Caesar by issuing such a command inspired a fighting spirit and loyalty in his men to fight so that they could win the battle and win the war and go home to their loved ones. How does that relate to Reverend Jeremiah Wright? As an individual, he may have by deliberate intention focused the media mindset on the stark realities of prejudice.Racial prejudice, religious prejudice, bigotism, bitterness, hatred, malice, unfair media coverage, soundbites and deliberate mind manipulation in this high tech society and the need for reconciliation, truth, self examination, forgiveness, confession, repentance and constructive engagement in this present society.
Will it damage Barak? Who knows.Does America care for Barak with all the media frenzy and media post mortems of his name, his freinds, his associates ?.Yes some American’s care. Others don’t ,if you read the positive and negative chatlines, some do and some don’t. So what. Nobody is perfect. Some people like you others hATE YOU .SO WHAT. THAT’S REALITY.
America may need to have its own TRUTH COMMISSION for a reality check up. Will America have one? Who knows? Does America care?Yes.America cares for the good, the prospering, the dreamers, the ambitious ,the good and the not so good, the downtrodden, the sick ,the lame ,the unwanted, the ones with dreams and broken dreams. Some people are honest and others are not so honest. So what? NOBODY IS PERFECT. WE ALL HAVE OUR FAULTS ….BUT THERE IS SELF IMPROVEMENT and rehabilation for those who need it!!!!
There is strong undercurrents of a reality check up. Why?. Look back to KATRINA, HURRICANE KATRINA.Look back to yesterday down memory lane when everything was perfect until someone broke your dreams.
The ostrich likes to bury it’s head in the sand and the ostrich some say thinks as long as its head is buried in the sand , it’s vision is impaired and restricted and in this ostrich mindset what it cannot see the ostrich believes in it it’s ostrich birdbrain is not there? The ostrich needs a reality check up.
America is a great country. America is an IMMIGRANT BASED COUNTRY. That is why it is great. The beacon of hope of democracy. The open forum of democracy allows freedom of speech because America believes all men are created equal. That is on paper . That is in black and white, but some do not accept that because of the way they were brought up.
sOME OF THEIR TEACHERS MAY HAVE told them that some people are inferior to them and other people are superior. That is wrong teaching.tHAT IS WHY THERE IS SO MUCH CONTROVERSY TO DAY. The truth will set you free.
South Africa under NELSON MANDELA had a time of TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION. Things that worried and hurt and disturbed and offended many people had to be talked about. PEACEFULLLY, TRUTHFULLY, IN AN ATMOSPHERE OF RECONCILIATION WITHOUT RETRIBUTION,UNDER THE BANNER OF FORGIVENESS AND TRUE PEACE OF MIND.
GOD BLESS AMERICA. GOD BLESS TRUTH AND GOD BLESS RECONCILIATION.GOD BLESS THE PEACEMAKERS.
All this mudslinging politics and slinging back mud, and negative below the belt teleads is no good. Look how much money candidates are blatantly spending to get elected when there is a food crisis in AFRICA AND DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD. But people are so concerned with their own point of view they will forget people are dying without food, without democracy, without hope in other nations.
Maybe REVEREND WRIGHT MAY BE WRONG IN THE WAY HE SAYS WHAT HE SAYS, but maybe we need to take a GOOD LONG LOOK at ourselves.Maybe,it is time for self examination .Time for honest self judgement. Is it right to think about self first and others last? Is unfair treatment of minorities a paper excercise that does not mean nothing under our roofs? Are we really christians or make believers? Do we believe in God or are we apostate? GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL ?.
