Nuthin' but opposition for opposition's sake, unmurrikan. You've shown no facts, made nothing but false claims, and backed only a few with vague references to approximations. In the end, you're rhetoric is empty, hollow, childish, and baseless. Best of all you demonstrate the greatest of hypocrisy by alleging that Americans claim they are better than anyone else while repeatedly ranting as though you are. My guess is...you're just unmurrikan and everything else has to bend to fit your mindset (malleable facts included) rather than changing your mindset based on facts (an easy point to prove given your lack of substantiation to any of your claims).

Wow, what passes for wit in the cheerleading circlejerk. I'm glad I came here, you help me understand the banality of evil. As a nation you are as obese and ignorant as you are infantile and violent. Go buy another gun, some Viagara, and say a prayer for Saint Ronnie and Saint George. Pathetic.

Is it true that you tried to join Al Queda? I hear that they kicked you out when you tried to blow up a bus and burned your lips on the exhaust.

I think Sadr's political instability is a myth. He's been underestimated several times by us and over the years strengthened his numbers through public safety nets and services.

These recent 'rants' are, again, i think, public bulletins and political pressure points that--if fighting starts, will accent a good political degree of damage to fall on Maliki, not Sadr.

That's how it's going to be seen from the ground up.

Him "hiding" out in Iran makes no difference to Iraqis; this is an American 'got-ya' and purely for American appetites.

Sadr's is being squeezed hard now. What do you expect him to do but drop the cease-fire; that is all he can do -- as he's not going to drop his ball and go home. ... so i doubt they are 'rants'.

Doug, Sadr's made this rant innumerable times. It's not to be blown off, but not to be taken too seriously either. Interesting that there's no mention of him making this rant while hiding in Iran (again).

MORNING UPDATE:

Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr called for an end to clashes between his militia fighters and Iraqi troops, saying Friday that his threat of an "open war" applied only to U.S.-led foreign forces.

In a sermon read by an aide during Friday prayers in Baghdad's militia stronghold of Sadr City, the cleric also urged Iraqi soldiers and policemen "not to support the occupiers in combating your brothers."

Al-Sadr issued a "final warning" to the government Saturday to halt its crackdown against the Mahdi Army or face an "open war until liberation."

The statement on al-Sadr's Web site singled out the Iraqi government led by fellow Shiite Nouri al-Maliki, accusing him of selling out to the Americans. Friday's sermon appeared to be an attempt to ease tensions.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/iraq

So the truce is still on, for now. Everyone knows Sadr's pitching public politics so when violence starts public perception will be Maliki didn't want peace. The big question is, was this the last chance Sadr is giving Maliki for the truce to remain in effect?-- as Sadr's clock for all this is very tight.

Underlying most of this back and forth tussle in Basra are the Oct elections. Sadr's and Malikis' interests are political; they want more political viability in the central government. Yet to get there Maliki is presently pushing Sadr out politically via his military and the coalition forces. This leaves very little room for peaceful prospects as neither can afford losing the Oct elections in this stand-off; so obviously a truce can't last: either Maliki must cease his purge or Sadr will resort of arms-- it's really that simple: either lose in Oct or start a war.

Time is also running out. As Sadr's commanders and political forces are arrested, detained and weakened he's being forced to ultimately drop the truce and resume attacks in full strength simply to remain viable.

Finally, Maliki's 24 hour limit for JAM to surrender in Basra is now up this morning and Sadr must decide either to lose ground in Barsa ( by having many of his commander and officials arrested in Basra) or fight.

There really isn't much wiggle room here for a continued truce unless some one is willing to lose in Oct. It does appear round two of a civil war is dawning.

Doug, great post. We'll see if it's true this time. I hope not. I'd hate to see Sen Obama or Sen McCain have to deal with that.

Unmurrikan...you are one FUN guy! omg, I snarfed jave when I read your rantings this morning. Incredible!

"You guys have Al Quaida stuck in your tiny little brains. Not a significant factor in Iraq, but your ‘Wartime President’ has repeated it so many times I guess you’re brainwashed. Doesn’t take much. He is a good ‘capulter of the propaganda’ shit that you all swallow readily and regurgitate."
...Actually, while AQ consists of only a small portion of the number of insurgents, I think you'll find by looking at descriptions of how those Iraqis who have died were actually killed, you'll see that most died from suicide bombings, and almost all of the suicide bombers in Iraq...have been Al Queda. So while they're small in number (and keeping it that way as part of the nature of their suicidal tactics), they do have a disproportionate effect on the death and suffering. I wish the President was as influential with information as you claim, but his approval rating in the upper 20's contradicts your baseless claim.

"All the bullshit, spin and delusional thinking cannot alter the fact that America has behaved like monstrous murderers, not for the first time, and is rightly loathed by the whole (civilized) world."
...monstrous murderers? Um no. Please provide some stats comparing the number of US atrocities to the number of Al Queda and insurgent atrocities? Lacking that....it's just another baseless "approximation" from you.

"How pathetic that you’d be reduced to cheerleading for your truly demented President, a pathetic joke."
...Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I haven't cheerleaded for President Bush here. Besides, it'd be irrelevant. It's not his war. It was approved by a bi-partisan measure in Congress, and the removal of Saddam has been US policy through three administrations over the past 18yrs.

"How sad that you’d cheer the use of depleted uranium, which is hurting your own troops, their spouses, and unbornn children as much as it is ‘the enemy’, who is you in different circumstances."
...Yeah, better stop that DU use. Oh wait, they are. Report is that they're replacing it with a tungsten alloy. You do of course know WHY DU was used? It's the best way to penetrate and destroy an armored vehicle. What'd you think it was-some sort of long range, mile-a-second anti-personnel chemical weapon?

"I don’t know how nations go crazy; Ancient Rome, Nazi Germany, China in the Cultural Revolution, Pol Pot’s regime, etc, etc. That it could happen to the world’s most powerful nation does not bode well for the survival of civilization."
...neither does the deliberate ignorance of fools such as yourself as they are exactly the type of politically alienated and misled who have enabled and currently enable tyrants and terrorists to this day.

"Guys like you are nothing but cowardly enablers of death, maybe even your own when Russia and China get drawn in. How smart is that?"
...Um, those weren't M1 Abrams tanks in Saddam's arsenal. They were Russian tanks, Chinese armored cars, Russian and Chinese small arms, Russian and Chinese aircraft, and European ships.

Do some research. It's clear you've got more than enough gumpshin to look for propaganda from the right. Ever wonder what propaganda there is from the left re the war? Dare to ask and to look, but be warned...you'll find you're nothing but a political parrot.

"unmurrikan:" Talking about "tiny little brains" your statement above, like the comment you left on the Pope's visit to the White House shows you have more bile than brains. You are soaked in hate and it has warped your mind.

Nothing you say has any validity or credibility. You have defeated yourself.

Typical self loathing libtard.

P.S. The "enablers of death" are the people like you who turn a blind eye to TRUE evil and attempt to handcuff the good guys who would save your own worthless skin. It's people like you who are responsible for the great crimes against humanity where tens of millions have died because of your indifference to evil and moral perversion.

Scott - My compliments of a trio of highly entertaining (there must be a post down on the moonbat pen), and neatly countering unmurrikan's posts. I noticed you chased him all over the site; guess he must have ticked you off.
Too bad about the depleted uranium shells being phased out - say what you will, nothing out there is denser (which really counts in tank rounds, or the shells for the A-10's 30mm gatling gun). But, that's just my utilitarian thinking.

Let's have fun...

"Gee, now that you’re over five, maybe you could stop dividing the world into ‘good guys’ (you), and ‘bad guys’ (everyone else)."
T/F Izzat Ibrahim al Douri is a bad guy?

"As I recall, it was the ‘good guys’ who kept Saddam in power, "
...ya mean President Clinton, right?

"who supplied him with weapons and intel to use against the Iranians, "
...after they took over a US embassy, held 50 Americans hostage for a year and half, blew up a US embassy, killed 200+ Marines on a peacekeeping mission, and kidnapped a dozen Americans, are you saying that providing intel against such a clear enemy was wrong?

"and who supplied him with chemical weapons?"
...Well, Dr Hans Blix, Sir Richard Butler, and all of the UNSCOM and UNMOVIC UN inspectors said that he got his chemical weapons from nations that were NOT the US. Please, feel free to list the mustard, chlorine, VX, sarin, and other chem weapons from Germany, France, Italy, UK, S Africa, and Russia. Then they made their own.

"The good guys. "
...yep, the same nations the opponents of the war call "our allies"; good guys.

"Who’s using white phosphorus in Iraq?"
,,,not a chemical weapon

"Depleted uranium?"
...being phased out (might already be).

"Torture? Rape? Murder?"
...far more of this comes from Al Queda groups and Izzat Ibrahim al Douri's Iraqi Baath Party in exile than from anyone else. Incidents from Americans on this line are miniscule in number compared to those from the bad guys.

"Who can’t win?"
...Democrats.
