The debate's producers probably got scared after seeing the reaction of lefties who likened criticism of Obama to a "federal crime."

Since McCain took public money, McCain will probably want to have debates. It also means that Obama will have to live up to his promise to take public money or again be criticized.

You are probably aware that the Democrats are spending time and money looking for dirt on McCain and so far they are complaining he was born in 1936. So far they have nothing.

[...] On the bright side for Obama, he brought on two very competent supporters. However, apparently his fear of another battle with Mrs. Clinton led to next week’s debate being cancelled. (Hat Tip: Flopping Aces.) [...]

Ah yes, this is a great sign for the possible future Obama Presidency; when debate is likely to produce embarrassment and tough questions, avoid it all together...
Is the DNC that panicked about possibly having the weaknesses of their anointed candidate put on display? Have the radicals really taken that much power in the DNC that they're going to try to broom Hillary out the door before the people have had their chance to vote? Is coercion of super-delegates (a curiously undemocratic tradition to begin with) now the new DNC norm? Wow, that's a pretty twisted idea of party unity if you ask me...
But hey, in the end McCain reaps the benefits of that! Whereas BHO followers are so far to the left, they'll go with Hillary readily if she gets the nod; Hillary supporters being closer (and I emphasize closer) to the center, are more likely to split for McCain come November. If BHO runs from a debate when he can't stick to his "hope" and "change" rhetoric in the face of moderators who pander to him, McCain will mop the floor with him!
