Conservatives Back In Power In Italy

Posted by: Curt @ 1:29 pm in Europe  | 1 views

The left failed once again and now its back to the conservatives:

Billionaire media mogul Silvio Berlusconi won a majority in both houses of the Italian parliament and will return to power for a third term as premier.

Berlusconi’s People of Liberty party and its allies took 166 seats in the Senate, the upper house, to 138 for Walter Veltroni’s Democratic Party and its partner, according to a projection by RAI state television. In the Chamber of Deputies, Berlusconi took 45.9 percent of the vote compared with Veltroni’s 38.9 percent, RAI estimated. That would give Berlusconi around 340 lower-house seats out of 630.

“Berlusconi is back,” said Maurizio Pessato, chief executive officer of polling company SWG Srl in Trieste, Italy. “With this result, he can last.”

Elections to choose Italy’s 62nd government since World War II were called three years early after Prime Minister Romano Prodi’s government collapsed in January. Prodi had only a single-seat majority in the Senate. Pollsters and analysts had raised the possibility that Berlusconi might be hamstrung by a similarly narrow margin in the upper house this time round.

“The result is clear,” Veltroni told reporters in Rome. “The center-right will govern.”

Guess we can blame Bush for Sarkozy in France, Merkel in Germany…and finally, Berlusconi in Italy. That damn Bush!

So, Western Europe may finally be awakening to the effects of the socialist economic, cultural, and security policies of their left-wing governments? We can only hope that this new crop of European leaders will follow in the tradition of courageous greats like Winston Churchill.
Perhaps Europe is not yet doomed to become a mere museum of Western culture, and ultimately slide into what some have called a “Eurabian” future.

They still have to deal with the EU and the “treaty” that will take away most of their sovereign rights…

Wise choice if you look at two articles I also ran across today… both indicating jihad eyes have focused on Rome.

“Al Qaeda linked website launches Italian section” from Adnkronos

And the “we needs some more women for suicide bombs!” Hamas cleric, Yunis al-Astal, promises ‘Rome Will Be Conquered by Islam’.

Obviously Italians are aware they need to stay on their toes…

Walter Veltroni has already stated that his party will not play nice with in-coming administration…how very democratic of him and his party.

The left is responsible for many destructive policies in Italy — the Italian populace tired quite quickly of them, and Berlusconi is back.

The media loves to tout “Bush is a laughing stock in the world,” yet Europe keeps electing pro-American allies. MSM wrong, again. Or in more colloquial terms, FAIL!
