Shameful in Seattle.

(With all due respect, wesmorgan - IMO it’s when our country is at war that we DO have to show our love of country. Every chance we get. Having said that - I don’t question your patriotism and I sincerely thank you for your service. God bless you and God bless America, land that I love.)

Of course they didn’t want to say the Pledge. They don’t even know the words. And if they didn’t even have a flag that says quite a lot too. Doesn’t every school have a flag?

I’m sure they could have rustled up a UN or Cuban flag somewhere.

Better question, how does one go from
concern to disapprove to opposition to activist opposition to this?

I was born and raised in Seattle and left as an adult. By some sort of miracle, I did not catch the lefty disease. I live in CA now and due to my immunity, am able to live my life, disease free. Seattle people are embarrassing.

shit, if this doesn’t make washington look dumb. i live here and i love this state, not the people running it, but the state. seattle is a wasteland, they have so many liberals there that it is hard to even have dinner. they tax everything, they monittor everything, they have a program for this and one for that. love my little town.

I found an interesting comment on this one over on Politico.com: “I was at the 43rd. I’m sure we all would have pledged allegiance had 1. there been a flag, and 2. it wasn’t proposed to us as filler while we were waiting forever and ever for the Hillary Surrogate the hobbit to arrive. We were bored and annoyed and booing every filler proposed, including jokes.” That puts things in a different light, I think…

Actually, I’m somewhat offended that someone would think the Pledge of Allegiance mere “filler.” It should be far more serious than that. If I were a bit more hardcore about the phrase “under God” in the Pledge–and be careful in what you assume from that statement–I might well refuse to say (at least that portion of) the Pledge anyway.

Having said that, I would probably have opposed some gratuitous “hey, let’s show how patriotic we are” display on general principle. I don’t wear a flag pin in my lapel, I don’t fly a flag from my home, and I don’t have flag decals or yellow ribbons on my car. Heck, I don’t even have the “VETERAN” license plate to which I’m entitled. I love my country, but I don’t have to prove that to anyone.
