Might be a few more days of waiting for that new post Mata. I got some detainee transcripts (declassified) from Gitmo, and I want to read through, compare what they say with the Iraq docs, my timeline, and some notes.

Mr. Curt sez

Bush and the WH has done its best to get it out but the MSM ignores it. With bloggers, we only have so much pull. The MSM ignores us also since they view us as nothing more then pajama clad, unsophisticated, amateurs….they are the holders of the key you see.

Perhaps I missed something this past week, Curt. I didn't hear the WH make apeep on this latest report. Instead the media lie from the start was that the WH and Pentagon were trying to hide it by not making it available online. Uh huh.... McCain also ignored it, which doesn't bode well either.

But I shall disagree. The power of blogs (and talk radio) to force media response has grown immeasurably. When blogs talk up something enmass, it eventually makes it's way to the talking heads shows. So my suggestion is to keep the report very much alive and pertinent... as you are doing.

Uh, Scott? Choir here... :0) I have an entire section of my blog devoted to the category of "media rants". I furiously typed out my own "rant" on the 13th of March on that report, livid and frothing at the mouth by lies in the coverage.

and I'm a'waiting for that new post.

Mata, they all make my skin crawl is a better way of describing it. What gets under my skin is when leftist lemmings take their half-quote talking points and treat them as full truths not the half truths they are. United, this nation can put men on the moon for fun and make it look easy. Deliberately fractured, and we can't get a convoy of trucks to a flooded city like New Orleans given 5 days warning and a week of effort after the fact.

Curt's deadnuts on the money. The WH should be reading FA and the rest of the blogs (as well as the report!), and shouting it from the rooftops! There is no spinning the final conclusions of the report:
1) Saddam was and did work with radical islamic terrorists
2) Saddam's regime did work with groups that were part of the Al Queda network of terrorist groups before the invasion
3) Saddam was a terrorist threat (conclusion V in vol1 of the report btw)

Just wait....Curt and a few others know I found something interesting in the report, and I'm gonna post it soon.

The WH should be shouting it from the roof tops. Bloggers should be making sure it gets enough attention in cyberspace to force major networks into broadcast time.

This one really got under your skin, eh Scott? Remind me never to get to that "woodshed" status with you. :0)

I swear, nothing about the media's blatant lack of objectivity, and aversion to research, that surprises me anymore.

What has me scratching my head is complacency by the Bush WH and conservative bloggers. The WH should be shouting it from the roof tops. Bloggers should be making sure it gets enough attention in cyberspace to force major networks into broadcast time.

But noooo... conservatives say "we knew this", and pass it by with nary a glance. They fear any attempt to reverse years of media misindoctrination. Instead they all focus on the Hillary/Obama soap. Very disheartening. No fight in conservative America anymore. Now if the Ace'rs could replace our lazy GOP in Congress, we might get somewhere.

It seems talk radio is the new dinosaur media, as they are just now finally picking up on what Scott and Curt red flagged right away when the McClatchy article came out ahead of the Report release.

The Wall Street Journal is also now talking about it.

"Liberal Facism"...

A long tough read, but read it and all will be clear!

They accuse (>>Those on the left screaming “Bush Police State”...>>) Conservatives of what they themselves would be doing if they could.

The review of Wilson's actions during WWI is particularly enlightening, and of course, FDR's action's in WWII in sending all Japanese legal Americans to the camps. We've been "progressing" down this path for the last century...I had no idea.

Alec,

I posted a few times here on that same issue and cited paragraph and verse in the Geneva Conventions and US Law of Land Warfare both of which stated that AQ and their fellow travelors were mercenaries at best, spies at worst.

Niether have rights as POWs as they are not legal combatants.

On the treason side. Those on the left screaming "Bush Police State" continuously fail to realize that IF the USA were a police state, the Military would be armed (we expressly are NOT armed by law), Posse Commatatus would be suspended, and these "peace" activists would have been in jail long ago for their assualts, vandalisms, raids, aiding the enemy, etc.

Every single anti-war mantra is based on a full on lie (2 million killed, 4 trillion in cost) or on pure half truths, selective quoting, and cherry picking of factoids. It's just incredibly ironic that these tactics are the exact same ones that they accuse the Bush Admin (incorrectly) of having used to start the war. To that end Mr Isikoff seems among the worst offenders-choosing to present half truths and biased stories rather than news for Newsweek readers. He'd be better suited for Mother Jones.

Isikoff is as bad as they get. I posted a couple of years ago on another of his lying attacks on the legitimacy of our war effort. He claimed that: "A Justice Department memo proposes that the United States hold others accountable for international laws on detainees—but that Washington did not have to follow them itself."

What the memo actually said is that: "these treaties do not protect members of the al Qaeda organization, which as a non-state actor cannot be a party to international agreements governing war."

In other words, the memo was about what the U.S. had to do to comply with international law. It did not advocate non-compliance, as Isikoff lied. I don't see why this behavior is not prosecuted as treason. He is telling malicious lies in an attempt to undermine our war effort. That is giving "aid and comfort to the enemy," which under the Constitution is specifically NOT protected speech in time of war.

We are presently in the midst of two declared wars. That defines "the enemy," which activates the treason statute. Isikoff should be in jail (or in a prisoner of war camp, since habeus corpus can also be suspended in time of war) where he can't do any more harm.

I don’t see why this behavior is not prosecuted as treason. He is telling malicious lies in an attempt to undermine our war effort. That is giving “aid and comfort to the enemy,” which under the Constitution is specifically NOT protected speech in time of war.

We are presently in the midst of two declared wars. That defines “the enemy,” which activates the treason statute. Isikoff should be in jail (or in a prisoner of war camp, since habeus corpus can also be suspended in time of war) where he can’t do any more harm.
