Jim,

We've tried several times so tell these fools in office what the difference between LEGAL and ILLEGAL is. They just do not want to hear it when it comes to immigration. Instead, those of us bringing this up are called all sorts of fun names.

As a hispanic male, a US citizen, and patriotic too, I must say that these strict immigration laws
proposed by both republicans and democrats should be voted on and passed asap.
What Sen Melendez (R Florida) is telling McCain not to support this bypartisan bill , telling him
that hispanic immigrants would be against him is hogwash.
These laws are gear towards "ILLEGAL ALIENS" who have no rights for they have and are violating US immigration laws. Do you understand Mr Melendez? Do you understand what is LEGAL and what is ILLEGAL?
Robbing a bank is ILLEGAL...depositing money in a bank is LEGAL. Driving without a license is
ILLEGAL...but you can with a license.
Answer me this Sen Melendez ( a bafoon) just what part of ILLEGAL do you not understand?
If you have to think about it for more than 2 seconds than I suggest that you immediately give
up your seat and go back to peeling bananas.

Geez, just what kind of people we are electing to office

Nobody really has any idea what McCain has in mind. With the Soros support for the Reform institute and McCain's desire to not demonize these "God's children" and keep the Latino vote, I defy anyone to predict what exactly McCain will do if elected. Getting him to twist in the wind over a difficult bill will only serve to demonstrate his political skills, not his intentions. So far he has been extremely politically adept at not saying "too much", which actually means lying by omission. How much he is really in Soros's back pocket is also impossible to ascertain. Obviously McCain isn't as good for Soros as Obama and obviously McCain's positions on Iraq and Israel aren't those of Soros. So McCain retained complete ambiguity on whether the "secure the borders first" pledge is one of the greatest lies in political history or something that he will reluctantly follow, perhaps not even doing much about the issue one way or the other. Certainly he will have his hands full enough with Iraq, Iran, Russia, and North Korea not to make "securing the borders" and legalizing every illegal the highest priority of his first week in office, but who really knows?

Re: "I’m actually mystified why the dems are keeping this buried, in the senate at least."

So am I. chalk it up to Harry Ried's incompetence. It would serve the Republicans right if the Democrats did pass it and watched as President Bush vetoed it and McCain twisted himself in a know being on both sides of the issue.

But, as usual, Harry Ried will be Republican's best friend and take all the heat for them.

I'm actually mystified why the dems are keeping this buried, in the senate at least. They can fill it with amendments that McCain will have a hard time voting against, because he's voted for them consistently before. Then it's a wedge issue to use against him, no matter how he votes. And frankly, the more we talk about immigration, the more people on the right will remember why they despise McCain.

Now the House? That's another story. No political benefit to them at all bringing it up there.

I think MacDaddy learned his lesson.... he's missing a sizeable chunk of his butt to prove it. Sen John Cornyn of Texas left some of his teeth marks there....
