Angelina On Iraq

As for the question of whether the surge is working, I can only state what I witnessed: U.N. staff and those of non-governmental organizations seem to feel they have the right set of circumstances to attempt toangelina_jolie1a_300x400.jpg scale up their programs. And when I asked the troops if they wanted to go home as soon as possible, they said that they miss home but feel invested in Iraq. They have lost many friends and want to be a part of the humanitarian progress they now feel is possible.

She may be liberal (I still have a thing for her tho, just can’t help it) but at least she can admit when things are going better, unlike three quarters of our Democrat leaders.

P.S. This sentence from Ms. Jolie: “What we cannot afford, in my view, is to squander the progress that has been made.”

Tell it to your fantasy land friends Angelina!

Liberal or not, she recognizes that the future is about succeeding in Iraq. That’s the best way to bring peace-not leaving, allowing AQ to regroup, allowing Iran, Syria, Turkey, and Saudi to come in and start a regional war, and not allowing a genocide to start THEN making airstrikes or some sort of “show of force” that shows a lack of resolve and will rather than vice versa. No. The UN wants peace (see also UN1483 sec 1-4), and it can only be done by working against the terrorists. Those who march against the soldiers’ and Marines’ efforts to protect people from terrorists are not helping.

That’s the UN and the NGOs, which (make no mistake) is great to hear, but when is the Iraqi government going to get in gear? That’s what we need to see, and soon…

McCain and the GOP can try to spin all they want. McCain is reckless and incompetent – his poor judgment in pushing for the invasion of Iraq in the 1st place proves that he is UTTERLY UNFIT to lead our country . How rash is it to attack another country without a plan –and without making sure the troops have the protective gear and transport that they need to be safe? I plan my vacations better than Bush and McCain planned a war and because of their recklessness, over a million people have died on both sides. At the end of the day, Bush and McCain have made America much LESS safe. If someone in Iraq had caused our country the devastation Bush/McCain have, we would put them at the very top of the Terrorist Threat list.

The Democrats support a careful, phased withdrawal which I agree with. Given their pasts and their records, I trust Obama’s wisdom, judgment and his word the most. But I feel Hillary would be competent reliable leader too. In contrast, McCain has totally flip-flopped on many key issues and I feel his word means NOTHING. More importantly McCain’s “experience” is being one of those most responsible for the worst American policy blunder in my lifetime. Put to the test, he was dead wrong….

Sorry Sandy, but you are wrong on all counts.

Until 2003, we had flak vest and spall vests from the 1990s as armor. The IBA and its clones/successors came out rapidly after the dismal funding of the 1990s.

Invading Iraq was not rash and I have gone into that I the “why Iraq” post I wrote while deployed to Iraq.

You swallowed the leftist kool-aid hook line and sinker and you went further in you last paragraph. There IS no Democratic plan except hasty retreat, surrender, and paying jiza.

What a nutty comment by Sandy.

his poor judgment in pushing for the invasion of Iraq in the 1st place proves that he is UTTERLY UNFIT to lead our country

What poor judgment? Invading Iraq was the right thing to do and it would have been criminal if Bush didn’t invade.

How rash is it to attack another country without a plan –and without making sure the troops have the protective gear and transport that they need to be safe?

Another example of someone who knows nothing about this topic. There was a huge amount of planning that went into it, only a very lazy thinker would believe that the military just kind of went with the flow and pushed in….no plans, no tactics, nothing. Just a bunch of rednecks looking for squirrels to shoot I suppose.

Man o’ man, where do you people come from?

over a million people have died on both sides.

ROFL…..I see we have a believer in the fraud known as LANCET. Like I said, lazy thinkers.

Given their pasts and their records, I trust Obama’s wisdom, judgment and his word the most.

Yup, what a past and what a record. Actually, that should be what a LACK of a past and record. But hey, lets put him in the White House just for kicks. Lets see what he does.

Sigh….

“The Democrats support a careful, phased withdrawal” The Democrats you seem so proud of couldn’t organize a 2 man parade across a blocked off street.

“Invasion of Iraq”?
Didn’t we go with the UN and a coalition of other nations to save Kuwait in 1991? And did’t the UN and the Coalition abandon us there to deal with the recalcitrant Saddam? Weren’t we being shot at almost everyday of the Clinton administration as we maintained the UN mandated No-Fly zone? As we occupied Iraq through Clinton’s entire term we took a short break in December of 1998 when Clinton Carpet bombed Baghdad.
After a dozen years of failed negotiations trying to get Saddam to fufill his obligations under his surrender terms a US president drew a line in the sand: he began the long process of withdrawal which included the removal of Saddam. At that time we had been in Iraq for what? 14 years?

Some “Invasion”. Clinton did nothing to get us out of Iraq where the UN had abandoned us. Now liberals, in their unceasing attempts to rewrite history, want to claim “Bush invaded Iraq in 2003″.
Liberals will believe anything so they think people will believe them when they tell these impossible lies.
