Early in the Primaries I was not even slightly interested in John McCain's candidacy. On the contrary, I was vocally opposed to it. Once he became the presumptive nominee, I decided it best to take a closer look. I have been favorably surprised by most of what I've uncovered in my research, and have come to the conclusion that I'm more than pleased to have McCain as the nominee. No, he's not a Bush 3rd term (thankfully), and yes, I do find him to be a reasonable man whom I believe is more than able to lead our country through difficult times. He has earned my full support and vote. I would also like to add that I looked at all of the candidates, on both sides of the aisle and from the lesser parties. This is the first time in many election cycles that I'm feeling solidly good about my Presidential choice.

Merle Haggard wrote a song for Hillary. I used to believe this:

Merle Hasn't Lost His Fightin' Side
Dr BLT
words and music by Dr BLT copyright 2008
http://www.drblt.net/music/MerleVeryLast.mp3

Now I'm still a big fan, but I wonder if Merle is going soft, and I've written a song as an answer to his song about Hillary.

Go John McCain. This one was written and recorded by yours truly, just for you!

I support McCain, and the negative reaction of so-called "conservatives" to his lead in the primaries is quickly turning me off conservatives and their positions. I am a Bush Republican, I was a Reagan Republican, Even a Nixon Republican and I am sick and tired of narrow inflexible RINOs who have to dictate the nominee of my party. I want a big tent GOP, not just the 20% of the electorate that these people represent.

I want a strong aggressive forward defending national defense and a foreign policy that promotes democracy, wherever it can be promoted. I want diplomacy first, then whatever it takes. I vote for a president to be commander-in-chief first and everything else is secondary to that.

I favor marriage as between a man and a woman, but don't want that cluttering the constitution. Abortion is killing people, but that doesn't control my vote. I am not very religious but don't trust atheists, at all. I want the border secured, but I don't want to see the weeping mothers and children on TV, as us evil republicans load them on to trucks and trains. Enforce the border and big fines for the businesses who emply illegals. No welfare and no education for illegals. They will leave, we don't have to be nasty.

But the bottom line is that of the last three stand only McCain makes sense as commander-in-chief. Period.

You know if we want to fight, all we have to do is vote Huckabee in large numbers. He wont get the nomination, but it will keep McCain from the required number of delegates need, forcing a brokered convention. This would allow us to force a conservative as nominee. Think about it, it could happen if Ohio, Minnesota, etc, all fought against McCain. All you people with Primary's still to come get out there and save us.

There sure does seem to be some MDS going on in the Republican party. Much of it is due to McCain's own actions tho.

Actually, I believe that Senator McCain was just being gracious. Which is a positive item, as far as I am concerned. Too often individuals will refrain from even the slightest compliment as part of their "party loyalty".

Good for John McCain.
