It looks like they used a broom handle to simulate the “explosion” of the Japanese Defense Force truck.

I mean, really, the Japanese are so used to scaled TV shows with bad special effects that they are probably laughing and going “Oh no, Godzilla ate the toy truck!”.

However, the intro graphics were not too bad.
