Berkeley To Troops – “Get Out”

Loading

These kind of people are beyond disgusting.

Hey-hey, ho-ho, the Marines in Berkeley have got to go.

That’s the message from the Berkeley City Council, which voted 6-3 Tuesday night to tell the U.S. Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station “is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.”

In addition, the council voted to explore enforcing its law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation against the Marines because of the military’s don’t ask, don’t tell policy. And it officially encouraged the women’s peace group Code Pink to impede the work of the Marines in the city by protesting in front of the station.

Just utterly contemptible.

But Berkeley being Berkeley guess what else they passed at the same council meeting? In addition to calling the true heroes of our country unwelcome and uninvited they have now solidified their status as a sanctuary city for potheads:

The resolution, which was received with overwhelming support and applause from the audience, opposes attempts by the Drug Enforcement Administration to conduct raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in Berkeley, and urges city, county and state departments to not cooperate in the event that a raid occurs.

By claiming itself as a sanctuary, Berkeley have committed to ensuring that residents are provided access to medicinal marijuana if dispensaries in the city are shut down.

So Berkeley goes from opposing Federal law to opposing the organizations that give them that right to make their city a smoked out dim-witted enclave. They should be so proud.

Sen. Jim Demint isn’t taking this lying down: (h/t Michelle Malkin)

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) released the following statement in response to the decision by the City Council of Berkeley, California to evict the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station from the city.

“This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families. The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money. If the city can’t show respect for the Marines that have fought, bled and died for their freedom, Berkeley should not be receiving special taxpayer funded handouts. I am currently drafting legislation to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for this insult by rescinding all of the earmarks for Berkeley in the Omnibus Appropriations bill, and to transfer the funds to the Marine Corps.”

And the American Legion has a few words for the potheads:

“Osama bin Laden couldn’t have said it better,” American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser said of the Berkeley City Council Resolution, which tells the Marines that they are not welcome there. “Disgraceful, disloyal, ungrateful. These words are too kind in describing the actions of the public officials in Berkeley, who voted for this disgrace. Nonetheless, our Marines continue to bravely serve and in so doing, allow Americans to spout such foolishness. The American Legion not only strongly condemns this action by the City Council but also believes that a sincere apology is in order to all Marines, past and present.”

Personally I would be for cutting off ALL Federal aid to this city. If you do not allow representatives of our standing military to have an office in your city from which to recruit from then fine. Go it alone.

And where pray tell is Arnold and Nancy about this? Why the silence?

Well, we can do our part and not stay silent:

Just one question……….who left the door open to the monkeys cage?

Just a few hints to Berkeley City Council on some MINOR points of the US Code, Title 18.

2384. Seditious conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

2387. Activities affecting armed forces generally
(a) Whoever, with intent to interfere with, impair, or influence the loyalty, morale, or discipline of the military or naval forces of the United States:

As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

And that is just a few hints for that city’s council and mayor.

All of the excuses are moot. The only reason the leaders of Berkley don’t want the Marines around is they are afraid to have real men around. The divorce rate would skyrocket. Women are already packing their bags and they’ve only had a look, not a taste of real sex. That’s my take and you can take it to the bank that it’s true.

Nothing short of disgusting:

The council also approved a move to give the anti-war Code Pink group a parking space in front of the recruiting center once a week for the next six months, though it might have a different action for abortion protesters.

Another example of excesses that for some reason we sit still and allow. We allow treason by Newspapers, Senators (Rockefeller), congressmen. No action is taken, America wake up the Quislings are tearing us apart using our own sense of freedoms against us. When is enough going to be enough.

ChrisG, when congressional leadership can “visit” with the enemy during war, undermining the President and the troops in harms way, do you honestly think the city council of this aging hippy commune is in any danger of being brought up on charges? Please. Now if it was anyone other than the liberal left, we would of course be inundated with calls for prosecution. But because this is queen piglosi’s base, it will be a non-story by Monday.

Theresa,

I know. I also have seen it in the “anti-war” (for the left is VERY pro-war, just not on the side of the USA) demonstrations by Move-on/ANSWER/WWP/ACT/NION/Code Pink. I noticed Code Pink still brags about sending money and supplies to Fallujah and NOTHING will ever happen to them.

IF a conservative group were to say, fund rebels fighting against a communist regime while a Democrat was in office supporting that regime, there would be hell to pay for the conservatives. But the left is not, has never been, and may never be held to ANY standards.

Our useful idiot troll, Steve, makes this VERY apparent with his fanatical hatred of conservatives (which he shows no signs of even KNOWING what a conservative is outside what his masters spoon feed him).

I would like to know if moonbattus denialus trolls like Steve still think these groups “support the troops” when they say the troops aren’t wanted there?
