I am praying that a miracle takes place here and Fred stays in the race. He will take Texas and many other Southern States.

Fred has said he will be reviewing his efforts as he visits his mother (who is in the hospital?)

I don't know how much money he has left and whether a 3rd place finish with Mittens a very close 4th is enough to get him enough money to compete in Florida.

Huckabee may have to reassess his efforts too. he has promised to go to Florida, but he spent a LOT of money in SC and couldn't win even with all those evangelicals.

At some point this race has to narrow and we will have to decide whether to support candidates who can compete against the less desireable candidates like McCain.

@ Curt

First off, I want to be clear on something - I am not attacking Thompson. I like what he has to say, and I like what he stands for. I think he would be a great president.

From what I've seen, what I've read, do I think he's run the best campaign, no - not at all. He hasn't gotten the press the needs and have made poorly worded comments at the wrong time.

My personal opinion aside, the fact of the matter is that he has a perception problem. I'm sorry to say it that way, but it's true.

The VAST majority of people I speak with look at him as disengaged and uninterested.

As jainphx stated, the media is the the hurdle to overcome. Until Thompson can get that out of the way the general voting public won't see it any different. And now that he came in 3rd in SC his chances have gotten even smaller.

Unfortunately, the blog world isn't picking the president. So, it really doesn't matter how many people in the blogosphere endorse him - it's about the public at large.

Gentlemen, and ladies, the alphabet media is still our highest hurdle. Too many people are still frightened by their stories or so disheartened that they stay home or vote for, a compromise.

If you think Fred hasn't been campaigning hard then you have been misinformed, probably from the sites you chose to get your facts from. Have you ever even read Fred08.com to see his ad buys, his non-stop campaigning and 17 minute video up on the web laying out his policy beliefs?

The general public has gotten this urban myth embedded into their brains from the alphabet channels. Those who do visit multiple sources understand the man has been campaigning hard for months now. Hell, just look at all those bloggers who have endorsed him.

Actually, I don't watch the alphabet channels all that much... I say that from the sites I had been surfing over the last several months.

But, you've proven a great point even if you didn't intend to. I'm an individual who obtains my perspective from a number of sources and if I don't think Thompson is campaigning hard just think what the general public sees.

He hasn't campaigned all that hard?

Are you kidding me?

Check the Fred Thompson category on this blog and check out all the campaigning he has been doing.

Don't just watch the alphabet channels to get your news....much more out there then that.

I thought Thompson would have been a great candidate but he is viewed as "not wanting" to be president.

He hasn't really campaigned all that hard (from what i've seen), he hasn't been gaining too much press as of late (like he was in July), his primary results are poor...

When is he going to pull out the big guns if he is into this race?

I applaud that poster, he said what a whole lot of us think. I just hope that there are enough of us to make up for the media brainwashing.

I wondering how much credibility the pollsters will have when Fred wins South Carolina?

From Rasmussen two days ago:

"The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary shows that John McCain and Mike Huckabee are tied at 24%. In a race that has already seen four different candidates with the lead, much could still change in the coming days--7% of voters have yet to make up their mind, 10% say there’s a good chance they could change their mind, and another 24% might change their mind."

I sure like these numbers of still "undecided voters". And Fred was on a surge when this was posted.
