Justice for Channon & Christopher

Posted by: Curt @ 12:38 am in Law Enforcement  | 13 views

Good news.  The prosecutor in the case against the four animals who carjacked, kidnapped, tortured and raped Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom will seek the death penalty against at least one of the suspects:

A prosecutor will seek the death penalty for at least one of four defendants accused in a fatal carjacking of a Knoxville couple.

Knox County District Attorney General Randy Nichols filed notice yesterday of the state’s intent to seek the death penalty for Letalvis Cobbins if he is convicted.

Cobbins’ attorney, Kimberly Parton, could not be reached for comment.

He is one of four defendants charged with murder in the January slaying of 21-year-old University of Tennessee student Channon Christian and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Christopher Newsom.

Prosecutors say the victims were robbed and taken at gunpoint to a house where they were beaten, tortured, raped and killed.

Nichols has not yet said whether he will seek the death penalty for the other defendants accused.

We can only hope that they will seek the same sentence against the other three scumbags.

It is a tragedy what happened to Channon and Christopher. May God bless them and their families. But why is it “good news” to you that the State wants to kill another human being? More killing is not the answer to killing. Life in prison without parole is a sufficient sentence for anyone convicted of this terrible crime. Rejoicing in more death is not the answer.

Save your hearts and flowers for someone who cares. They deserve to die, they should die, and I hope beyond hope that these animals go to their deaths soon. If for no other reason that we could be sure they never walk the streets again because you know as well as I do that life in prison doesn’t mean life anymore when you have liberal judges coming onto the bench every single day.

I am with you Curt, my concern is for the victims. I am not pro death penalty (strictly because the system has often had the wrong person) BUT, the law is the law and if anybody ever deserved it, its the people who committed this crime.

BTW, Semper Fi, USMC, 3rd MAW, VMGR 352 90-94.

The death penalty is applied in a racially biased manner. The death penalty is Legalized Lynching focused on Black men and other minorities.

What an ignorant statement. The NAACP itself found that in 2004 46% of those on death row were white, while 42% were black. Sure is a disparity there.

The death penalty is racially biased. New Jersey just abolished the death penalty because of the many errors that occur and because it primarily targets African-Americans and other minorities. The death penalty is not the answer to senseless violence. More killing begets more killing. Support Life. Reject Death.

I’ve spent 5 years in prison for a charge that people do 3 months for(intimidation of a witness). Take it from someone who knows… prison is a better life for most in there. Sentencing these cowards for life is not the form of punishment you think it is. They eat well, exercise, laugh, hang out with their friends, and get to see their family and friends. Sure it can be tough at times… there is no doubt about it, but do not think that the punishment fits the crime in this case. The death penalty is too good for these cowards. They deserve a much harsher form of punishment… torture first and then death. That is a language they understand.

How can ANY member of the human race be so brutal to two totally innocent victims is beyond my comprehension. If convicted, there is no ’suitable’ punishment. Incarceration for the rest of their lives will set back the tax-payers of this country millions of dollars. Do the math. At $25,000.00 per yr. times 5 =$125,000,00. It quite possible that each could live for 40 years or more. We are talking $5,000,000.00. The death sentence ends the suffering at the moment of death. THINK!! when you incite racial rage. This can be sent out of control by ‘meth’ and other mind altering drugs. No system of government is perfect. No human conduct is perfect.
We do not condemn our armed forces when thousands of civilian deaths in war occur, but we surely can raise hell if our criminal justice makes some mistakes.
