Greg,

Problem. We already had a "Mohawk" airframe in service when the Apache was introduced. It was a recon aircraft.

Other than that, great information. I was never taught that in "history" class and I am part "Cherokee".

An interesting tidbit. My family is considered "patchwork" as to say it is mixed is an understatement. Most are "whitish" (Germanic, Scottish, Italian, Polish, Irish, etc) but many in the family adopted and married different races.

My aunt was asked to take in a Pottawatomie child for a year since she could not get an education at the Reservation where she was living (which was not of that tribe) since the prejudice between tribes is so great.

Something else we are not usually taught in "history class".

To bad there isn't really theat much Native American err Indian history taught in the U.S. I actually took a course at college, by a conservative.
Interesting tid bit:
The U.S. government representation is still called the Bureau of Indian affairs. Why? Because 80% of the tribes refer to themselves as Indians, not Native Americans.

Most tribes go by their nicknames and not the real name of their tribes. That's right, there is no real tribe that called THEMSELVES Apache, Mohawk, Commanche or Chumash for instance. They called themselves that after the Europeans arrived and already settled on their lands. Where did those names come from? Those are derogatory names given by their enemies which were often met before the other tribe. It would like the British happening upon the French while they were at war with Germany and asking what the French called the Germans. You can use a dictionary (probably not one of those pocket dictionaries though) to find out the real name of your local tribe and how their name came to be. For instance Iroquois is the local word for adder and Cheyenne means one who speaks a foreign language. Most tribes called themelves us/we/people in their own language.

There are far more people claming themselves belonging to an American tribe than there were believed to be people living in North America before the Europeans showed up. Many tribes still practice expulsion so there probably is even more Native Americans even though they are no longer registered as such.

The Alanta Braves "tomahawk chop" foam tomahawks you see at the games are actually made by an American tribe. It's hardly insensitive to the tribe that's making tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars from that one product each year.

On aside note, the Army should rename their Apache (the French repronounciation of the Zuñi word apachu which means enemy) helicopter to Mohawk. It would go from being named "thug/gangster/enemy" to being named "The eater of men."

I'm glad you listened to this program, Curt. I was going to ask if you did, because I burst out laughing (about 20 minutes in) when Michael asked his caller if he felt blessed to be an American. I love it when you can hear people in the studio, in the background, not be able to stifle some laughter at the moronic callers.

The democrats can no longer be called stupid. They have progressed from BDS to insanity for which there is no return. Now you can only pity them. Millions of lives ruined and it all started with a lie tied to Algorabge 'losing' an election, and like it or not he did lose which was proven by numerous recounts by the liberals. Prime example=John Ryan, lost in a fog of lies.

There are always stupid people out there -- and sometimes they seem to be in the majority. I am thankful this year, for the smart ones like you, my friend, who can easily out number them even when you're standing on your own. Happy Thanksgiving!

Would it be politically incorrect to also note the fact that the US currency has gone down the toilet in the last 6 years.

It is simply foolish to assume that the lesser of two societies has the absolute right to advance.
Is their a right to survive ?
