Yeah, because John Murtha never served in the military. Because John Murtha flunked out of bootcamp. It's obvious what exactly he was talking about. Note, that was scarcasm. However, despite Rush Limbaugh saying that he was only talking about soldiers who flunked out of bootcamp, then claimed that they were soldiers, he repediately calls other people phony soldiers.

The Exact Quote:
LIMBAUGH: You shouldn't hold your breath because there's no standard to hold me to, in the sense that you're -- I never said what you think I said, Congressman Pallone, Congresswoman [Jan] Schakowsky [D-IL], Sen. [John] Kerry [D-MA], or any of the rest of you in the drive-by media. I was talking about a genuine phony soldier. And by the way, Jesse MacBeth's not the only one. How about this guy Scott Thomas who was writing fraudulent, phony things in The New Republic about atrocities he saw that never happened? How about Jack Murtha blanketly accepting the notion that Marines at Haditha engaged in wanton murder of innocent children and civilians? If anybody owes anybody an apology, the entire Democrat [sic] Party, from Hillary Clinton on down, owes the U.S. military an apology, they owe me an apology, and they owe the American people an apology.

So, He expands the group to include Scott Thomas, who was not someone who flunked out of boot camp, and actually went over there. It includes Rep. Jack Murtha, who served his country during the first Vietnam War, and wasn't a "bootcamp dropout."

Explain that one away...

It's quite obvious that he included everybody who doesn't step in behind the war, and it's quite amusing to see conservatives try to back this guy, and revise history for him.

Hi Scrapiron,

Where is that quote from? I'd like to use it, but not without a source :)

Bush may not talk well sometimes, but the man is in no way a fool; unlike some fools who post here, right Other Ed?

jpe: Do you really think that making insipid comments like the one above is going to convince anyone you have a two brain cells that function above a 4th grade level?

Are you even aware that Rush was referring to a "phony soldier" who flunked out of bootcamp, was not a corporal, was never in Iraq and was not a Ranger?

Or do you just lap up every lie you are told?

If the same liars who put this smear job up tell us "Bush lied" we can only assume Bush tells the truth.

Nice try, Other Ed, but noone's buying. I don't think you even read the Movon.org ad

The bottom line is that the left is smarting over the fact that they had their collective butts handed to them by the Republicans in the Movon.org affair. Moveon.org went way too far in their ad and sane liberals know it. They were very much embarrassed and upset that they'd lost a huge PR battle.

So they instructed Media Matters to find <em>something</em>, anything, that they could use against the right. If it hadn't been this stuff about Rush it would have been someone else. They're reaching and they know it. What a joke.

Did you see that Rush phonied up the version of the event when he put up his defense? In fact, the clip he aired omitted a full 1 minute and 35 seconds of discussion that occurred between Limbaugh's original "phony soldiers" comment and his subsequent reference to MacBeth.

The left doesn't know what truth is,every word that comes out of Hillery's mouth is untrue.Hillery flip flops,Kerry lies and flip flops, but thats all right. The minute some one on the right speaks, the lying spin begins. What is so mind boggling is that the moonbats believe their own bull to be true. The twisted logic displayed by Ed.proves my point-case closed.

That explanation makes sense. Rush thinks that troops opposed to Bush's war are holograms.

I can't believe I didn't realize that before he opened my eyes.

I pity some people (ex: Ed) who are too dangerous to be allowed on the street without an excort in a white coat carrying a butterfly net. One flew over the coo coo nest doesn't mean they are lost. They are here in the brain of Ed, or he is one of the democrats that dropped out of kindergarden.

"A man with a degree from Yale, an MBA from Harvard and who can fly a F-102 jet fighter is called an idiot by millions of Americans. Imagine how educated and talented they must be.", or not.

The MoveOn ad was also attacked and taken out of context. The questionmark after betrayus and the text of the ad asked the general "to not betray us" by giving an inaccurate report.

The MoveOn "outrage" controversy was just as phony as this one is.

Curt: You would think that people who swear "Bush lied" would be very careful to preserve their own veracity.

But apparently, those dubbed with "absolute moral authority" as Maureen Dowd of the NY Times dubbed Mother Sheehan and the anti-war left feel that any lie that serves their cause is justified.

"Absolute moral authority" corrupts absolutely.

Rush has posted a You Tube video of the relevant section of today's program where he repeats the audio from yesterday with a montage of the twisted media reports:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/jp.swf?video_id=rm84gOXkZaY&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//img.youtube.com/vi/rm84gOXkZaY/default.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskKEoDo23jAMeDDo_R7bIs7d" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/jp.swf?video_id=rm84gOXkZaY&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//img.youtube.com/vi/rm84gOXkZaY/default.jpg&t=OEgsToPDskKEoDo23jAMeDDo_R7bIs7d</a>

So far, the server load is so heavy that the page is not displaying but I did see the video at The Radio Equalizer with additional background material:

<a href="http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2007/09/rush-limbaugh-troops-controversy-media.html" rel="nofollow">http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2007/09/rush-limbaugh-troops-controversy-media.html</a>

It's clear by now that there is NO LIE too big for the left. They learned at the feet of their master who once told them "depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

The left's message of defeat and surrender is so discredited they are becoming naked propagators of falsehoods and deception.
