David Shuster = Liberal Hack

Posted by: Curt @ 6:05 pm in MSM Bias  | 0 views

I had not heard about this Shuster interview until today and now that I’ve looked into it I can honestly say the guy is a first class putz.   He was the first to wishfully utter the  words Karl Rove may be indicted soon (how wrong he was) and now he ambushes a Republican lawmaker over the death of a soldier in her district:

Shuster: "Let’s talk about the public trust. You represent, of course, a district in western Tennessee. What was the name of the last solider from your district who was killed in Iraq?"

Blackburn:"The name of the last soldier killed in Iraq uh - from my district I - I do not know his name …"

Shuster: "Okay, his name was Jeremy Bohannon. He was killed August the 9th, 2007. How come you didnít know the name?"

Blackburn: "I - I, you know, I - I do not know why I did not know the name…"

Shuster: "But you weren’t appreciative enough to know the name of this young man. He was 18 years old who was killed, and yet you can say chapter and verse about what’s going on with The New York Times and Move On.org…." [snip] "Don’t you understand, the problems that a lot of people would have, that you’re so focused on an ad. When was the last time a New York Times ad ever killed somebody? I mean, here we have a war that took the life of an 18-year-old kid, Jeremy Bohannon, from your district, and you didn’t even know his name."

Problem is that the soldier is NOT from her district so she would not have been notified:

I did a little research on the soldier (Pvt. Jeremy Bohannon) mentioned in this segment. He was from the town of Bon Aqua, TN. I looked up his last name and town in www.whitepages.com and found the 9 digit zip-code associated with the address listed (it was the only listing). I went to the "Write Your Representative" web site and put in the 9 digit zip code + TN. Guess what I found! The young man did NOT live in Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn’s district 7. That particular address/zip code resides in District 8, represented by Congressman John Tanner (D-TN). Now assuming that all of this research is accurate based upon the information provided at the WaPo site and the US House of Representatives site, then David Shuster was WRONG! When will MSNBC issue a correction?

It appears Shuster issued first a non-apology:

the story was about blackburn’s hypocrisy… it wouldn’t matter whether the soldier’s name was David shuster or Crazy Water [the email name of the reader]. she didn’t know the name, period.

Regards,
D

Then another non-apology:

I respect your point of view… But if you are truly an “editor,” as you say, I’m sure you will understand that this segment was about the priorities of Representative Blackburn. What do you think it says when any lawmaker, regardless of their party, knows more about a newspaper ad than about their constituents serving and dying in Iraq?

And finally someone forced him to apologize on air:

DAVID SHUSTER: On Monday evening while guest-hosting the 6 p.m. evening hour, I conducted an interview with Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn. The congresswoman spoke at length about a newspaper ad that criticized General Petraeus. In what I believed was an effort to examine Representative Blackburn’s priorities, I then asked her to name the last soldier from her congressional district killed in Iraq.

She responded "the name of the last soldier killed in Iraq from my district, I do not know." After that response, I identified who I believed to be that fallen soldier, a Tennessean killed in Iraq last month. But according to Pentagon documents, that young man came from a town inside a neighboring congressional district, not from Representative Blackburn’s, and for that, I apologize for that mistake.

Either way his conduct was reprehensible.  But what do you expect from a liberal shill like Shuster, who gets his info from people like Jason Leopold.  He’s a hack who thought he would be cute and sandbag a Republican.  I highly doubt he has EVER done the same to someone in his own party.  Everything I’ve read about Marsha Blackburn tells me she is a respected conservative inside the Tennessee Republican party, has dedicated bridges in the name of fallen Tennessee soldiers,  she has visited the troops in Iraq and based on actions is obviously supportive of our military.

The exact opposite of people like David Shuster.

The liberals are crying that the fact is she didn’t know the name of the last soldier killed but you know what?  Her job isn’t to know the name of every soldier killed, its to fight the liberal nimrods who put up traitorous ads in newspapers.  Who spread misinformation and try to force this country to run from a fight like cowards.  President Bush doesn’t know the name of every soldier killed, this fact does not prove that he cares little for them.  His deeds, meeting with the families over and over and over again, on the other hand shows us that he does care.

She has shown how much she respects our military by prior deeds.  This ambush, on the other hand, has only shown how biased our MSM really is.

Curt,

Shuster an up and coming rookie compared to Olbermann, Matthews, and Wolfie. These kind of attacks will do nothing but rachet up over the coming months.

First question Russert had for the dems in the debate tonight was “can you promise to have all of the troops out of Iraq by the end of your first term. Every one of them cowards has a plan for their cut n run move-on sponsered war policys. Obama, Clinton, Richardson all promised to have an exit plan with no mention of what the circumstances might be. THIS IS YOUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN ACTION AGAINST OUR ENEMIES.

The whole first round of questioning could make for a great ad for the Republican nominee. Repeat every one of their statments and say to the nation, “these are your candidates that plan to protect us from Al-Qaeda” “run for your life”.

Shuster used to be a pretty good reporter when he was at FNC. He got scoops and wasn’t biased … except in getting the latest scoop. Since he went to MSNBC it seems his liberal inner self was exposed and then put into hyperdrive by the likes of Matthews and (especially!) his fave Olbermann. Shuster still continues to lie about Joe Wilson, for example - like he doesn’t even know about the Senate report that confirmed Joe Wilson’s dishonesty - and continues to try and justify his (Shuster’s) Scooter Libby reporting (ie Karl Rove indictment) as if there wasn’t a story behind the story. Sad, really. I’ve wondered if it was more that FNC is professional and he reached journalistic heights there and the opposite is true in other quarters … so this is what we get ;(

These kind of tactics cannot continue to be tolerated at the expense of our fallen men and women. We can no longer assume any detail like this is accurate.

I’ll give Shuster a nod for the apology, but I think he owes a personal one to the soldier’s family as well.

Can you imagine what this did to Pvt. Bohannon’s family?

MSNBC’s ratings are so pathetic it’s hard to see how they stay in business.

Maybe that’s why they hire cut rate talent like Shuster.

Curt,

You’re late to the party on this one!

Shuster’s been a loon ever since he went over to MessNBC.
I really think he’s been trying to out-Olbermann Olbermann.

I can’t even be bothered to care about anything at MessNBC, they’re such loons…

Hopefully, if there is a God he or she will make sure all of you fucking cunts get cancer and suffer terribly. I hope you all die slow, painful deaths.

Shuster and Leopold are truth tellers. Same for Dan Rather. You are a bunch of revisionists.

Please die. Please

Usually with a comment with so much vitriol and hate, with nothing to add to the debate, I would delete and ban. He’s been banned but I thought keeping the comment up serves a little purpose.

MSNBC’s Shusters plays cruel game with dead soldier

There is still one question, and to my dismay, no one seems to be asking it. It is:

“Did David Shuster and MSNBC give any thought to the family of Private Bohannon, and what using him as a tool to play ‘gotcha’ with a US Representative would do t…

I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with him asking that question.

Every Democrat in Congress who ran on the “New Direction in Iraq” PR marketing lie last fall should be held to account for their lie, their inaction, and their hypocrisy. He was right to point out to the Democrat that….

…wait, ya mean it was a Republican and he’d never asked that of a Democrat before or since? Gosh, that’s interesting. Did the Republican promote, authorize, support, and call for more troops in the war like Sen Clinton? No? Hmmm, wonder why he didn’t ask her then, or Sen Obama, or Sen Reid, or Spkr Pelosi, or ANY Democrat? To ask such an important question only to a Republican would be partisan. Surely he’s fair and balanced and has asked this of Democrats who control Congress and promised an end to the war, right?

Shuster’s comments certainly clarify where his priorities lie.

FYFC: Not in a whole lifetime could I garner enough hate to become a Democrat. It seems that is a prime requirement.

Curt,
Wow, the “tolerent”, “peaceful” left has shown up with hatred, death wishes, and stupidity. Reminds me of how they acted when disrupting convervative events in college ten years ago. I am sure it has only gotten worse.

I am also sure this “brave leftist”/useful idiot really does wish we would all die, but he/she “supports the troops” while stabbing us in the back. I have already said where these people can go.

As for the topic. When has the Left EVER been honest, held up standards (”Cash-Hsu” anyone?), resigned from congress for misdeeds (we all have $90k in our freezers and make shady real-estate deals), and reported truth from Iraq (I was there watching them report lies from one block away).

Now, if a leftist IS elected, watch the war reporting majically change to “all positive all the time”. Reality will not have changed, but “party truth” will make the MSM report the good things they have studiously ignored.

ChrisG,

I love the “(”Cash-Hsu” anyone?)” and if I may, intend to use it profusly during the next few months. I will also archive your comment to credit where I heard this first.

Yeah. He cares more about the troops than about condemning a perfectly legal and reasonable ad by MoveOn.org….
Typical liberal.

Look at the hateful left in the above comment — we may disagree with them on a litany of issues, but they in turn think we’re pure evil…that’s the difference between us and them.

I feel pity for such people — their lives revolve around politics, and they have very little of anything else. Sad, just sad.

P.S. I read somewhere that it was Moveon.org… which fed the erroneous name to Shuster who simply repeated it without any fact checking.

I thought journalists with their legions of editors, researchers, training and experience were supposed to be more responsible?
