But Columbia radical riots when Americans present their viewpoint!

Columbia University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SAIS) has invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to give a speech following his appearance at the United Nations.

Columbia’s president, Lee Bollinger said: "Opportunities to hear, challenge, and learn from controversial speakers of different views are central to the education and training of students for citizenship in a shrinking and still dangerous world. This is especially true for SIPA students, many of whose careers will require them to confront human rights and security issues throughout the globe," Coatsworth said in a statement.

In September 1986, I began graduate study at SAIS. Shortly thereafter, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, then U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and a graduate of Columbia’s Barnard College had to decline her invitation to speak on campus because of left wing protests that threatened to disrupt the event if she spoke.

Twenty years later, In October, 2006, we saw how leftists at Columbia rioted to shut down the event where the border security group "Minutemen" were speaking. For a reminder, see this brief video of the riot that ensued.

Iran under the leadership of radicals like Ahamdinejad is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans.

No doubt, the same left wing fascists who brazenly shut down free speech from "controversial speakers of different views" will embrace the appearance of the lunatic Ahmadinejad.

Whose side are they on?

Remember that less than a year ago the “Columbia community” drove Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minutemen, from the stage in a violent act striking down free speech. The University’s cowardly response was basically to do absolutely nothing to defend his right to present his viewpoint.

Perhaps if he had been denying the Holocaust and advocating the murder of millions of Jews he would have gotten a better reception. That seems to be the key to being treated with respect these days at Columbia.

No problem DaMav.

It’s clear that the only voices which will be heard at Columbia will be those who, like the radical left, hate the United States.

Probably the best thing to do is let President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speak without protest. It wouldn’t be the first time “Enemies of the U.S.” were allowed to speak at a University. I don’t think what he has to say is all that important, because i bet they are deeply hoping the Bush Administration will prevent the speech from taking place and then blaming the Bush Administration for preventing “alternative ideas.”

If Ahmadinejad was allowed to speak without protest, the Bush Administration and conservatives would win points for supporting the First Ammendment and tolerance, while the Columbia community’s loyalty to the U.S. and their view of the First Amendment would always be in question. This in turn would bash the University indirectly. The University wouldn’t be able to directly respond because how could they? They would have to invite a conservative speaker and two things would happen. There would be protests (proving once again the community was intolerant) or the University would crack down on the protests and in turn they would look to be intolerant.

And recently the Army JAG corps wanted to go there and recruit for JAG officers from that bunch of rabble and some other colleges also.

Right just what we need in our JAG corps a bunch of liberal lawyer wantabees who blame America first.

I would hope they would recruit from conservative oriented law schools, but on the other hand can anybody name one school of law that fits that profile?

Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs is abbreviated SIPA. Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies is abbreviated SAIS. Since you went to SAIS (or SIPA, I don’t know which one you are actually referring to) and since you so passionately hate the “radical left”, I would recommend that you learn the acronyms for these two prestigious institutions and double check your idiotic rants for typos before publishing them.
