The “New” Sex Scandal

Loading

Wouldn’t you know it, the story about a Republican politician getting arrested for disorderly conduct is making big news in the media and the lefty blogs as proof that the man is gay and a hypocrite.

Denying that he did anything wrong and stating emphatically that "I am not gay," Sen. Larry Craig asked the people of Idaho on Tuesday to forgive him for being arrested two months ago in a police sting in a men’s room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Craig, who was taken into custody on June 11 by a plainclothes officer investigating reports of lewd conduct in the restroom, said he pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge in an effort to suppress a story — pursued by his home-state newspaper — that he has secretly engaged in gay trysts.

Craig said the story has been following him for nearly a year.

"For eight months leading up to June 11th my family and I had been relentlessly and viciously harassed by the Idaho Statesman. If you saw the article today, you know why. Let me be clear: I am not gay. I never have been gay," Craig said in a news conference in his hometown of Boise.

For all those people who don’t know what Senator Craig is being charged for here it is in a nutshell:

  • Put a duffel bag at the front of his stall
  • Peering through a crack into an adjoining stall
  • Tapped his foot
  • Moving his shoe over until it touched an officer’s
  • And he ran his fingers along the underside of the stall divider.

And this is a sex crime?  Wtf planet are we living on again?  Disorderly conduct:

One who knowingly “[e]ngages in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct or in offensive, obscene, or abusive language tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others.

Was any of his conduct obscene?  Not in a million years.  His conduct after the arrest was quite bad and something which pisses me off whenever a Dem or Rep does it.  But to make this into some kind of sex crime is typical leftist tripe.

Plus, when a Dem gets into trouble everything is downplayed.  Protein Wisdom has so valiantly pointed out the the continuing bias by our media on these stories today.  When these DEMOCRAT politicians were busted for various things the word DEMOCRAT was never printed.  (from Protein Wisdom)

Ex-MD State Sen. Tommy Bromwell, US Rep. Bob Filner, TN State Sen. John Ford, Fmr. GA Gov. Lester Maddox, Rep. James Traficant, Rep. Gary Condit, former LA Gov. Edwin Edwards, former NC district court judge Garey Ballance and former U.S. Rep. Frank Ballance, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, former NC state House Speaker Jim Black, Former Newark Mayor Sharpe James, NOLA Councilman Oliver Thomas, US Rep. Kendrick Meek, Atlanta Councilman Jim Maddox, and Revere city councilor Mark Casella, Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Minnesota state Senate President James Metzen, and these three from The Jawa Report.

But a Republican gets into trouble and you better watch out.  Anchors fall all over themselves in their attempt to see who can say Republican or Conservative the most.  Want more examples?  Go check out Media Mythbusters and get some knowledge on this ongoing attempt by our MSM to ensure that any Republican who runs afoul of the law is quickly and thoroughly trashed while minimizing any Democrat who does the same.

I notice this comes the very WEEK after Foley is let off the hook. It’s like someone has an inbox that needs to be filled or like part of a vast left wing conspiracy is at work (see how stupid that sounds?)

😉

The man pleaded guilty to the crime. He said in a COURT of LAW, (Maybe under oath) I did this. The media has every right and even a responsability to report it. What more does the media need to wait for in your book? A home movie!

He has denied for years he is gay and voted against gay bills. Of course he is going to get far more press then a democrat who does the same thing. In the exact same way that a Democrat who preaches global warming will get FAR more news reporting over his CARBON FOOTPRINT then every other republican combined and the Democrat didn’t commit a crime.

While I believe the MSM has a bias to the left I don’t see it here.

Random U

Yes, he pleaded in court that he put a duffel bag at the front of his stall, that he peered through a crack into an adjoining stall, tapped his foot, moved his shoe over until it touched an officer’s, and he ran his fingers along the underside of the stall divider.

Now that tells us he is gay how again?

That was some crime.

On the carbon footprint thing, tell me how many papers was that story in again? Led off on how many nightly news shows again? Answer = Very few.

But not for the Republicans.

I really get a kick out of it actually. Proves to all, that the MSM is so out of whack, so biased, that they cannot be trusted. Unless your a nutroot of course, then your in love with the job they do.

“Yes, he pleaded in court that he put a duffel bag at the front of his stall, that he peered through a crack into an adjoining stall, tapped his foot, moved his shoe over until it touched an officer’s, and he ran his fingers along the underside of the stall divider.”

And he did all those things….why??

Can I get a DUH here?

And he pled guilty…..why??

Can I get another DUH?

Wake up people, the most vociferous haters are that way for a reason.

Can you say repressed?

Did what things! What crime? Wow.

He put a duffle bag in front of a stall and tapped on the wall. I mean come on. What is the crime?

I was replying to your question:

“Now that tells us he is gay how again?”

DUH.

It’s a “sex” scandal where clearly no sex occurred and it’s not a “sex” scandal when we have Monica’s blue dress with the DNA of President Clinton?

Once again, Democrats undermine one of their core constituencies. By trumping up this issue, they reinforce stereotypes and prejudices against gay people as pervs and unfit to serve in the military where such conduct could be found offensive.

Most likely, Craig will be removed from office by his constituents. We only wish the good people of Massachusetts who re-elected Ted Kennedy after leaving a girl to drown and Gerry Studds who took his page boyfriend on trips would have the same standards.

It’s one of two things:

A) He committed a crime and he pled guilty to that crime and he’s no longer fit to serve as a US Senator.

or

B) He didn’t commit a crime, but he pled guilty to a crime he didn’t commit, so he’s too stupid to serve as a US Senator.

Personally, I think he tried to solicit gay sex in that bathroom and I think he’s probably gay (“not that there’s anything wrong with that”), but for whatever reason won’t admit it. The latter isn’t reason for removal from office, but the former is.

Craig needs to do the right thing and resign.

OK, so Craig pled out to a charge of “invasion of privacy”. It that now a sex crime? How about the next time you hit on a girl in a nightclub? Can she have you arrested for “invasion of privacy”?

Craig did not plead guilty to a sex crime no matter how badly the left wants it. And of course, being the perfect little conservatives we are, we will eat one of our own to show the nation that we weed out inperfection.

The last man on earth that was perfect the Romans nailed to a cross. You who are wanting Craig’s head on a silver platter would do well to remember that.

Craig can turn this dishonorable situation into an honorable one by resigning. And the Repubs can do the right thing by pressuring him into resigning.

Repubs aren’t DemocRats, we shouldn’t let dishonored politicians continue to serve or sweep sh*t under the carpet like the DemocRats do.

Unfortunately, the GOP has no spine and they’ll let Craig get away w/ this tawdry affair, just like they always do.

At a time when the Repubs should be walking all over the DemocRats, they continue to let them seize the high-ground by doing nothing and rolling over.

Craig should do the right thing and resign.

Curt, which of these things would cause you to be a bit alarmed if some dude was doing it in the stall next to you?

1) Put a duffel bag at the front of his stall
2) Peering through a crack into an adjoining stall
3) Tapped his foot
4) Moving his shoe over until it touched an officer’s
5) And he ran his fingers along the underside of the stall divider.

I would be alarmed with #2, 4, and 5.

Curt,
as both a criminal Justice Major and one who has talked with Gay mail friends I can assure you that what he did in that stall is EXACTLY how gay males cruise for others in restrooms. Do a little research on the subject. What he did is NOT what any straight man I know would ever do. I try to avoid comming close to the next stall. I avoid eye contact, and I and EVERY man I know does not move his fingers under the stall 3 times for the man next to me.

Are you calling the officer a lier? That pretty much is the only resonable way to explain this. You are starting to sound like Bill Clintons appologists denying what is obvious.

Both parties loose credibility every time members of those parties try to make ludicrouse excuses for there misbehavior.

Can’t we get some damn people with backbone to standup and say, “I screwed up. Sorry.” Instead everyone feels they need to cover up and lie.

Either he lied when he plead guilty or he is lying now. Either way he has lied to the people.

Random U

Seeing as how I have no gay friends I would defer to you on his conduct. But being a police officer I do understand the charge in which he was charged with. None of what he did fits that charge. It seems to me that he pled guilty to make this whole thing go away which backfired on him.

Is he gay? No idea. He says he isn’t. He did not do anything sexual in the bathroom. He didn’t plea to a sexual crime. So how is this a sex crime now? Is the peering through a crack suspicious? Damn right. But not to the point of an arrest unless your going peeping tom.

Most of my post that you are commenting on is towards the double standard the media and the left have when a R gets in trouble as opposed to a D. Bill Clinton got blowjobs in the oval office, committed adultury, and then lied under oath. But still to this day he is lauded by the MSM and the left. Check out all the reports I linked to about the Dem’s were got into trouble and you find nary a word in the reporting indicating they are a Democrat.

Now the difference between the parties will be seen once again. The Republicans will force Craig out for his misconduct (still dont see the misconduct, but whatever) while the Democrats put every Democrat who misbehaves up on a pedestal whether they take bribes, put money in freezers, hit police officers, drive drunk, drown a women….whatever. They are all forgiven.

Alarmed yes. But tell me where the crime is?

Anyone else find the timing of this story suspicious?

Question: What would be the #1 news item if this story wasn’t the most lurid thing out there for the “news” media to focus on?

This incident happened 10 weeks ago. Strange that it hit the “news” media the very day Hillary’s funny money scandal broke.

And in the big scheme of things which is more important: a perv as a U.S. Senator or a corrupt liar running for President and taking money from dubious sources?

Dude you can’s be serious defending this scum. He plead guilty of a crime and you as a cop would know more about the legal aspects then me bro, but I do know what his intentions were. He is a creapy old man who was in an airport mens room looking for gay sex.

but I do know what his intentions were.

And you know this how?

Be that it may, if he was looking for sex he should be forced out. He will most likely resign because in the Republican party we purge those who dishonor the party while the Democrats laud them as heroes.

Curt you can believe what you want as to the Senator’s intentions. I tend to look at the report (police) and how the Senator plead guilty and hid it from everyone as an indication of his intentions. If it quacks like duck…

Why must you be so santamonious about Republicans v. Democrats in this situation. This is not about party but personal conduct. Craig represented himself one way and did things in another. All people were duped by this liar. If you want to spend your whole life justifying why Republicans are morally superior to Democrats go ahead, but when you do next time find a situation that a Democrat is doing wrong. I happen to be Republican and don’t view Democrats as evil or the enemy.

A man goes into a known red light district. He circles the block 5 times near a young lady in a micro skirt who stands on a corner. He eventually aproaches and asks if she would like to go on a “date” for 20 dollars. Nothing Sexual has occured yet men are arrested and convicted every day for this.

This is the same thing. All his actions were those that anyone who is familiar with Gay Bathroom sex would recognize as trolling for a “date”.

Do a little research and you will find this to be true. His actions match exactly those of someone looking to have sex. Furthermore there is no reasonable explanation for his actions and reactions to what happened.

Care to explain his waving his hand UNDER the stall wall. His hand went far enough uunder and down for the officer to see his ring. He made the gesture three times. The officer said there was no paper on the floor. Combine that with his foot slowly edging over and touching the officers, Peeking through the stall, and tapping foot to attract attention and you can’t explain it any other way.

Furthermore how he reacted after the bust says just as much. If a cop showed me or any one I know a badge in a bathroom My first response would be to ask whats going on. Not “NO”.

Top it off with reports in the paper gathered BEFORE this incident that he had done this before and I don’t see how you can deny this. I read your blog because you cover excelent info the MSM doesn’t. How ever in this case I have to say you are off base on his intentions.

This is the same thing.

Not even close to the same thing.

No words were spoken, he did not ask the man next to him for date. He was not in a red light district. He ran his fingers under the stall.

Now I never worked vice and have no intention of doing so, so there is no way I can say he wasn’t looking for sex, I’m not familiar with it. Although I am a bit familiar with the female prostitute laws since the team I am currently on helps out with the occasional hooker stings.

But my point in my many comments has been the same. The charge he pled guilty to was not sexual in any way shape or form. If they had enough they would have insisted on the sex charge, they didn’t. Take it from someone who has testified in court a thousand times, who has seen cases filed and not filed. They didn’t have enough and you all are making assumptions.

Now with that being said I have seen cases where the suspect got off even though I knew he was guilty, this may very well be the case with this guy. But what pisses me off is the double standard by our MSM in this.

I mean THIS is leading off in the news while a story about a man who is on the run from the law for stealing a million bucks and then giving it to Hillary Clinton is hardly spoken or written about. A story about a man running his fingers under a stall that may or may not be sexual, a story where he pled guilty to a charge that was NOT sexual in nature at all, that story is big news.

Meanwhile a Democrat who allowed a women to drown is still thought highly off and still in office. A Democrat who lied under oath and was impeached by the house is a hero. A man who agreed to take bribes and is one of the biggest swindlers in Congress (Murtha) has his ring kissed daily. A man who also took bribes and hid a ton of money in a freezer is allowed to stay in various committee’s. A drunk who gets caught driving drunk is still in office, no calls for his ouster. Who is more dangerous? The man driving drunk or the man rubbing his fingers under the stall?

And on our side we force the perp out. Foley, gone. Craig, soon to be gone. Any sniff of wrongdoing and we force them out.

That’s a good thing. But the MSM still pisses me off.

Maybe that anger is coloring my opinion on this whole episode, I don’t know.

blastmarine,

Why must you be so santamonious about Republicans v. Democrats in this situation.

I think I just spelled it all out above.

This is not about party but personal conduct.

Then explain all those Democrats I referenced above and their personal conduct? Explain the non-hysteria? Explain the silence from our MSM?

If you want to spend your whole life justifying why Republicans are morally superior to Democrats go ahead, but when you do next time find a situation that a Democrat is doing wrong.

Justifying? Hell, there is no justifying….I KNOW Republicans are morally superior. I write about it all the time, I provide examples all the time.

I have no idea what your saying in that last sentence of yours.

I happen to be Republican and don’t view Democrats as evil or the enemy.

Let me see, your number 1,009 on the list of commentators who try to prove their point by telling me they are a Republican when it is most obvious they are not.

One observation, your last comments before this post was to belittle a reporter in Iraq who was reporting on the Scott Beauchamp story. You belittled him because he was gay. Now you show up again on another story that involves some gayness.

I’m detecting a trend here.

Mike,

“It’s a “sex” scandal where clearly no sex occurred and it’s not a “sex” scandal when we have Monica’s blue dress with the DNA of President Clinton?”

It’s so nice to finally hear an acknowledgment from the right that the Clinton impeachment was over nothing more than a sex scandal. Thank you.

“I KNOW Republicans are morally superior.”

Well, they certainly present themselves that way. That’s where the hypocrisy in all this lay.

“Mr. Family Values”, and a married man, goes trolling for gay sex in a men’s room.

Newt Gingrich ditching his wife while she deals with cancer.

Bob Barr, having an affair while prosecuting Clinton for, gasp!, having an affair.

Morally superior? Other than Mormon Romney, which Republican nominees are still on wife number one?

Dems and Repubs are each frail, sometimes failed, humans.

Republicans, however, are your classic folks in glass houses. And that’s why Sen. Craig, et. al., get, and deserve the press.

Curt,

I mention my party as to indicate my perspective since you have drawn such a big line of being for or against someone/group. It is sort of like defending someone who is on the other side of an issue. You are totally worng if you think Republicans are morally superior to Democrats as you have no evidence to justify those sweeping conclusions. That would be like saying God likes Republicans more than Democrats. You may make some valid points regarding how the media covers some issue here or there, but I remember Clinton and his cigar shit with Monica 24/7. Oh, it was a Republican controlled Senate that did not find him guilty. So does that make Republican bad for not finding him guilty and tossing his ass?

Personally I have nothing against gays, but Matt Sanchez and his gay porn background is material when deciding if his is credible, particularly with the other allegations mentioned in the Marine Corps Times articles. So that was a matter of his personal conduct, before (porn) and after (the issue with taking funds from the United Way). Same with Craig. He plead guilty of illegal conduct and no doubt was trolling for sex in a public mens room.

One good thing about Sanchez was following your link back from his site brought me to your blog. As a former Marine myself, I have found your blog a good read. That is even with my comments or disagreements here on Sanchez, Craig and your saying Republicans are somehow superior. You seem like a good guy and I will keep reading and hopefully will make a comment on a non gay related post so you can see I have more than one point of view.

s/f

You said “No words were spoken, he did not ask the man next to him for date. He was not in a red light district. He ran his fingers under the stall.”

You acknowledge that a peson can solicit sex without actually engaging in sex, but now you seem to be saying that one must verbally make such requests. This is ludicrous. I have seen people who did not speak each others lanquage agree to sex for money without a word being spoken. Are you implying that if a deaf street walker simply jestures her desire to have sex for money that no crime has been committed? Certain public restrooms ARE redlight districts for gay men. You either have failed to read the articles or you are playing dumb. They were engaged in a sting operation here because this was a known “Gay redlight district”

The gay community has developed a series of body signals used in restrooms to signify that they want to have sex. They do this since saying vocally “Hey dude, want to give me a blow job in a public restroom is likely to draw attention.

Here is how it works.

1) Gay male hangs outside a set of stalls. Peaks in to see if someone who he is attracted to is there. He also is letting any gay male in there se him so they know there is an attraction.

2) Gay male enters stall besides potential date. Gay male then taps foot on floor. Thats to get his “dates” attention. If the date also taps back that shows definite interest.

3) The Gay male then Touches the other persons foot with there own and makes hand jestures UNDER the stall. Further code that the person wants sex. This is the point that straight men do not pass. STRAIGHT MEN DO NOT PLAY FOOTSIE IN THE BATHROOM.STRAIGHT MEN DO NOT PUT THERE HANDS INTO THE OTHER PERSONS STALL!

You say you don’t know any gay men. You probably do but have failed to pick up on the more overt, let alone subtle signs.

His actions are EXACTLY the actions of a gay man looking for a date. I have neaver heard, nor can I immagine any straight man I know EVER touching another mans foot in a restroom then placing there hand under the stall.

You are makeing excuses for him.

Yes I agree that many of the democrats you mentioned should also be ousted if what they did is true. However making excuses for your own parties misbehavior just keeps the cycle going. The democrat who had money in the freezer should be removed, but weather he is or isn’t does not mean that the republicans get a pass on their actions. If we use that logic then politicians will just go deeper into the sewers, if thats possible.
