Tick tock…the clock is ticking on the surge.
With approximately a month until General David Petraeus proffers his progress report to Congress, already the pundits on the Left are bracing for the worst:
That the surge will work.
Sadly, in reading some of the running commentary, I was gravitated to this article from the Daily Kos, your source of Leftist propaganda. In the past I’ve hesitated to really discuss at length anything that comes from the Kos camp, as I perceive the vitriol to be really nothing more than childish name calling.
With that said, I watched “Victory or Retreat? The Surge and Politics” on Fox News this weekend. I found it compelling, convincing, and revealing.
-Compelling in that General David Petraeus, seems to understand what it takes for the surge to work, thus securing Iraq.
-Convincing in that the facts were accurate and, despite what the Left would say, irrefutable.
-Revealing in that despite overwhelming evidence that the surge is making progress, the Left wants nothing to do with it.
Why?…because the Democrats have hedged their bets on the anti-war side. Their biggest political gains will occur if the United States military withdraws in shame. Our loss in the Middle East is THEIR political victory.
So, brace yourselves for this running commentary from the Daily Kos’ DPR regarding the Fox News special.
“Now, onto the actual content in the "documentary". Throughout the documentary we are told that the surge is working. The "documentary" talks about the military victories that we are experiencing during the surge, while failing to discuss the Iraqis political crisis in dept. It seemed as if 99% of the "documentary" was written, directed, and produced by George W. Bush himself. I will let you watch the documentary for yourself to decide what you think, but here is a quick summary of the message that I heard in the "documentary.”
Note the use of “quotes” around the “documentary.” At no time during the broadcast did I think this documentary was created by anyone in the Bush administration. Unfortunately, the Left’s outlook and judgment on the war on terror and the Iraq War is so incredibly clouded by their Bush Derangement Syndrome, that they are willing to see the Middle East in a regional military conflagration, all JUST to embarrass President Bush.
Thus, the Left has grown incredibly reckless…
The question that needs to be asked of the Left is this: why are you so afraid the surge will work? Are you afraid of success? Or are you so blind with your Bush hating, that you will risk taking this country down just to ensure that Bush is a failure?
“Fox has possibly reached an all-time low. They did interview some people who were against the war, but they quickly used "evidence" to "disprove" their arguements. At the end we are left with the fact that the surge is working, and congress can decide if they want to win or lose this war. If we stay, the Iraqi government can start getting their act together. If we leave, this will be Vietnam all over again.”
Note the standard “anti-Fox” rhetoric from Fox News. Can anyone tell me how interviewing dissenting voices is a bad thing?
Fox’s "documentary" really shocked me. I shouldn’t be shocked, since Petraeus is set to report to Congress soon. Typical Fox News propaganda.
“If we leave, things are not going to get better. If we stay, things are going to get worse and worse, and hate for America is going to grow. The Democrats are not trying to prevent America from winning in Iraq. If the Democrats get their way and we leave Iraq, we will be told, by he Neocons, that it is their fault that we did not win. It’s pathetic. Blame George W. Bush. He took us into a war that we can not win. Even if we "win", and Iraq maintains a stable Democracy, is that even good for America? What kind of leaders would the Iraqis elect?”
At this point, the author has lost me. While he clearly blames Bush, the neocons, and the Republican Party for taking us into Iraq, he cedes the point that leaving Iraq will result in catastrophic failure. Yet, while blaming all things Right, he charges Bush for leading into a war “we cannot win.”
So is the author upset that we can’t win the war, or shouldn’t have invaded Iraq in the first place? I wasn’t quite what to make of this “commentary,” if you can call it that. The author attempted to defame Fox News, but I found no evidence that its reporting and facts weren’t compelling, convincing, and revealing.
Nice try though…
