Sen. Schumer Really Is An Idiot

Isn’t it fascinating that the left constantly call Bush an idiot, a chimp, shrub, and so on but then admit on the other hand that he is this brilliant Dr. Evil who single handedly brought down the World Trade Center, sent troops into Iraq for oil and his daddy, and secretly put two Supreme Court justices on the bench:

New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer, a powerful member of the Democratic leadership, said Friday the Senate should not confirm another U.S. Supreme Court nominee under President Bush “except in extraordinary circumstances.”

“We should reverse the presumption of confirmation,” Schumer told the American Constitution Society convention in Washington. “The Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance. We cannot afford to see Justice Stevens replaced by another Roberts, or Justice Ginsburg by another Alito.” …

“There is no doubt that we were hoodwinked,” said Schumer, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee and heads the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. …

“When a president says he wants to nominate justices in the mold of [Antonin] Scalia and [Clarence] Thomas,” Schumer said, “believe him.”

"We were hoodwinked!"

What the hell?  So I take it Schumer believed Bush didn’t really mean what he said and that he REALLY planned on nominating liberal judges.  I think I lost brain cells just reading his quotes for gods sake.

Plus, what the hell does he mean hoodwinked?  He voted NOT to confirm both Alito and Roberts, he did his best to obstruct the hearings but now he talks as if he was out there patting them on the back and high fiving them.

Elections have consequences Chuckie.  Bush was elected and re-elected due to many issues, and one of the big ones is the promise he made that he would put conservative justices up there.  The people spoke in 2000 and 2004.

But instead of acknowledging this fact he insists on more obstructionism, hoping beyond hope that they could wait the next year and half out and get a Democrat takes the White House.  Once that happens he would want bipartisanship back.

Funny how that works huh?

But here is the rub, if they engage in obstructionism on Supreme Court nominees then you can bet your ass that Republicans will do the same if a Democrat gets into office.  Well, I HOPE they would do this.  And this solves nothing.  As I said, elections have consequences, and I fully expect a liberal judge to be nominated and confirmed if a Democrat is in office, just as they should when a Republican is in office.  But if they want to play this game of getting nothing done then so be it.

I love Dana Perino’s response:

“This is the kind of blind obstruction that people have come to expect from Sen. Schumer,” Perino said. “He has an alarming habit of attacking people whose character and position make them unwilling or unable to respond. That is the sign of a bully. If the past is any indication, I would bet that we would see a Democratic senatorial fundraising appeal in the next few days.”

And then we have one of the liberal judges whining:

Breyer has publicly raised concerns that conservative justices were violating stare decisis, the legal doctrine that, for the sake of stability, courts should generally leave precedents undisturbed.

“It is not often in the law that so few have so quickly changed so much,” Breyer said, reading his dissent from the bench in June to a 5-4 ruling that overturned school desegregation policies in two cities.

You can bet that he wouldn’t be whining if the decisions were going the other way.  Changing conservative precedents would be seen as a godsend from this guy and the rest of them but when the role is reversed then they see it as wrong.

As Powerline notes, this has been an attemped coup.  The Democrats have fought Bush’s right to executive privilege, his right to fight back against a smear campaign ala Valerie Plame, his right to protect this nation under the Constitution, his right to commute and pardon who he wants, his right to appoint recess appointments, his right to run a war that THEY gave the a-ok to, and now his right to nominate Supreme Court justices.

This is a coup attempt and should not be tolerated.

If Schumer says, “we were hoodwinked,” then it speaks volumes about his own intelligence and abilities, and that of his Democratic colleagues. If Schumer was that easily hoodwinked by the “evil” President Bush (whom he also calls a buffoon), then Schumer should be removed from office and forever barred from holding another elective office.

If “dumb” Bush is continually able to “hoodwink” them, what does that say about their intellect?

It’s high time for Chuckie to put a sock in it, son’t ya think?
I heard tell somewhere that Chuckie was a Naval Officer. If that’s the case, he forgot everything he ever learned. What a low life scumbag.
