daniel abraham,

I live in Los Angeles, which has quite a large Persian community living here. Everyone I know came here to escape the kind of "militaristic state" and "heinous acts" you are describing for America. You are wrong, sir. Why don't you fight the real oppressors and the real religious nuts? <a href="http://www.townhall.com/columnists/KathrynJeanLopez/2007/04/03/human_rights_versus_sharia_law" rel="nofollow">The real human rights violators</a>?

It's because of Christianity and the West that such evils as slavery were confronted and defeated. Nowhere else in the world other than in the West did the first anti-slavery movement begin. The British empire ended the slave trade, and then almost 30 years later, finally freed all their slaves. And they did it because they came to understand that it was the right thing to do, even when it was financially costly to the British empire. Was it wrong for them and other western powers such as France and the U.S. to pressure foreign governments to begin rethinking slavery, as well as actively policing the waters and boarding slave trade ships?

We have more to be proud of than to be ashamed for, when you compare the thousands of years of brutality and atrocities committed by other cultures in the world.

Go relearn your history.

Rob,

I always loved the concept of Flatland, but never got around to reading the book.

D: An example of what is wrong with public education and why peace kills.

<i>"Let Amrica (America) lead by example"</i>
Democracy has no greater advocate and tyranny no worse adversary, freedom no stronger shield and oppression no more implacable foe than the United States.

Across the centuries,America has been the beacon of hope to those without hope, we have been saviors to those in need of rescue. Just ask those who risk poverty, slavery and death in order to reach the shores of America.

What kind of people argue against freeing people from brutal oppression? People like 'd'.

Sir, brother:

Yes, muslims should speak out and renounce violence.

The trouble is, you let Christianity and the West off the hook.

America is a highly militaristic state. We have over three centuries and up to present day committed scores of heinous acts against various peoples of the world - not only despite our "Christianity," but IN THE NAME OF Christ. Is there a fouler blasphemy than to call the name of Jesus to bless an aerial bombing?

First take the plank out of your own eye, brother. Then we can begin to heal our families, our communities. Then onto the nation. Then we can worry about what Iran is doing.

Let Amrica lead by example.

in agape,

d

Thanks for this post, I really enjoyed it! I don't keep up with scientific theory as much as I'd like to, but I've always believed that if we completely and accurately understood science, and completely and accurately understood God, we would find they are in complete harmony. Those who poo-poo the mere possibility of a heaven are showing their scientific ignorance of the probability of overlapping dimensions of which we are unaware.
