The Latest On Jamil Hussein

**I understand this story has become quite convoluted and hard to follow so go here and read every post done by myself on Jamil Hussein started with the post that began it all on Nov 25th.**

As most of you know from earlier in the day Michelle Malkin posted our new findings regarding the search for Jamil Hussein.  We both had most of this information since early yesterday but wanted to double check and then triple check our facts before going live with it. 

As Michelle notes, there is NO Jamil Hussein at either Yarmouk nor al-Khadra station.  Recall that Marc Danzinger posted there was a Sgt at Yarmouk with a dubious past but according to multiple sources we have not found this to be the case.  Now, Marc’s source still states that this Sgt is indeed at the station so we cannot say 100% this is correct but after multiple sources confirmed that there is no Sgt by that name we feel comfortable enough in posting it.

The most interesting new information, as Michelle writes about in her new post, is the fact that there is a police Captain whose name is quite similiar to what the AP reported, minus the Hussein:

There is only one police officer whose first name is "Jamil" currently working at the Khadra station, according to my CPATT sources.

His name is Jamil Ghdaab Gulaim (alternate spelling per CPATT is "Ghulaim.") Previously, Jamil Ghdaab Gulaim worked at a precinct in Yarmouk, according to the CPATT sources. Curt at Flopping Aces has received the same info.

Now, go back and look at the full name and location information the Associated Press cited in its statement on the matter:

[T]hat captain has long been know to the AP reporters and has had a record of reliability and truthfulness. He has been based at the police station at Yarmouk, and more recently at al-Khadra, another Baghdad district, and has been interviewed by the AP several times at his office and by telephone. His full name is Jamil Gholaiem Hussein.

Let’s review: AP’s source, supposedly named "Jamil Gholaiem Hussein," used to work at Yarmouk but now works at al Khadra. CPATT says the one person named "Jamil" now at al Khadra — Jamil Ghdaab Gulaim — also used to work at Yarmouk. His rank is the same as that of AP’s alleged source. His last name is almost identical to the middle name of AP’s alleged source. (FYI: In Arabic, the middle name is one’s father’s name; the last name is one’s grandfather’s.)

Lots of circumstantial evidence there to conclude this might in fact be our guy.  Only problem is that he denies ever speaking to the AP, according to our CPATT source. 

So what we have here is quite simple.  There is no Jamil Hussein at either station, the person who might be the AP’s source based on the similiar name denies ever talking to the AP, and the AP can’t or will not produce their source.  Nor will they give us the name of the reporters who have spoken to "Jamil Hussein". 

Additionally lets look at the fact that one response by the AP to this whole mess was to cite sources in the local hospital and morgue, but then that response was tinkered with and that sentence was taken out.  Another report done by the AP on the Burning Six story cited an anonymous witness as saying the bodies were carried to the cemetary and quickly buried. 

Lets not overlook the fact that the AP has 2 named witnesses, one recanted and one is a fraud.  They had 3 unnamed witnesses who wont go on record.  No evidence whatsoever was described nor photographed at the scene that bodies had been burnt (ie burnt pieces of clothing or flesh, gasoline, shell casings since it was alleged each one took a bullet to the head).  Initial reports by the AP stated that 4 mosques were burnt but it turned out only one was.  How did the AP fix that?  They just rewrote the article and took out the number four.  As they apparently did with the hospital and morgue sentence. 

Lastly the AP cannot produce this Jamil Hussein.   He is supposedly a police officer for god’s sake and they cannot produce him?  Come on.

So 61 stories that had Jamil as a source are as close to being called bogus as can possibly be.

This is one source for many stories.  We read daily reports from the AP where they use multiple sources for different events which means that if there is one bogus source there is a good chance that there are other bogus sources being used today. 

As I’ve proven in prior posts much of the AP’s reports in which they state the number of bodies dumped in baghdad are overblown.  Sometimes as much as 75% overblown and thats just one kind of violence.  Usually one paragraph in each daily report from the AP.  How many more paragraphs of violence are overblown and/or completely false?

How can we trust ANYTHING that comes from the AP anymore?  I mean seriously, if this were articles in which the AP made the left look bad and then some lefties discovered that one source was a fraud for 61 of those stories do you really think they would ignore this?  Not a chance in hell.   They would be calling for heads to fall.

Surprise surprise, we are not seeing that here tho.

Michelle also printed Eason Jordon’s latest response on the search for Jamil Hussein:

Several IraqSlogger colleagues in Baghdad are tracking leads in an effort to locate Jamil Hussein.

IraqSlogger’s two biggest concerns: determining the ground truth and not losing lives in the process.

The Baghdad neighborhood where the disputed episode occurred, Hurriya, is a dangerous Shia area, while the neighborhoods where Captain Jamil Hussein is supposedly based (Yarmouk and/or Khadraa) are volatile Sunni-dominated Sunni-Shia mixed areas.

Iraqi police are themselves the frequent target of terrorist and insurgent attacks — thousands have been killed — and police stations are difficult-to-approach fortresses. Iraqi police have understandable anxieties and suspicions when outsiders start poking around in an effort to track down a certain police officer. Also worrisome: Some Iraqi police are alleged to be members of sectarian death squads. Bottom line: This effort to find Jamil Hussein is dangerous for all involved on the ground.

Nevertheless, since "Jamil Hussein" has been quoted in dozens of AP stories, he’d seemingly not be impossible to track down in person.

We’ll get back to you with ground truth when we determine it.

Are you telling me that someone like Eason Jordon doesn’t have contacts inside the AP where he could ask them to just produce the damn guy?

It seems everything the AP touches defies reality.

I decided to do a map representation of the attacks based on the one by SeeDubya but with Google Earth this time.  First here is the overall view of Baghdad with the attack locations, the two police stations and the hospitals nearby.  Click each picture to get a larger view.

This second one shows the distance from the Yarmouk station to the southern most attack area:

Which as you can see is over 5 miles.  Next is from the al-Khadra station to the same southern most attack location reported on by Jamil Hussein:

Over 7 miles!  This is some distance for a simple police Captain to cover but as the AP is alleging, maybe he is the Iraqi superman.  Able to cover long distances with a single bound.
