UPI.com still works. They aren't owned by the arabs anymore. They are owned by the same people who own the Washington Times.

Write your local editor and complain

I suggest we all write the editors of our local papers and demand they hold the AP accountable.

See this excerpt I wrote to the editor of my paper:

. . . Perception is everything thing and if the AP is running stuff with questionable sources they should be called on it. The enemy is very adept in using our media in the war of information.

Unfortunately readers are not the real consumers here. . . You can ask the probing probing questions that Michelle, Curt et al are. If the member/consumer newspaper editorial staffs do not hold the AP accountable for shoddy sourcing then the profession will be tainted with the AP's bad news feeds.

Credibility/relevance is key to the survival of the print media with the emergence of alt media sources in this major transformational period we're in as defined by Hugh Hewitt's in his book Blog.

Expect more Jamil Husseins

Is AP's 6 Sunnis burned alive story the Pinto of the MSM? Curt, the blogger who busted the AP, seems to think so in his post "The Demise Of The MSM?" The answer is no, of course, but sadly I expect more Pintos, and here is why.

Tinfoilers and Blogarting

Curt,

We've got a long way to go. The Spokesman-Review is a fairly with it MSM outlet. The SR has done excellent investigative reporting.

An associate editor was kind enough to start a thread on his blog, Huckleberries Online, on your breaking story after I sent him and excerpt. A very lively discussion thread ensued.

Some of the resident bloviators accused me of jumping the shark numerous times. And these folks are in Northern Idaho - not generally thought of as moonbat territory. I was the source material for some new blog terminology :-)

See this typical response and scroll the thread:

Winds of Change, Flopping Aces, The Anchoress, and Patterico's Pontifications vs. NBC, ABC, CBS, New York Times, Washington Post...

Sure. How could you not jump all over "Flopping Aces" as your source of news in Iraq...I mean, hey, the guy probably wears desert digi camo pajamas as he types away in his basement.

The tinfoil brilliance in this, is of course, you accuse the MSM of lying and you get to pick and choose whatever blog news you want to believe that supports your political belief system. How convenient.

RBT, do you support the war? Do you want us to stay and fight?

and this follow-up:

RBT, I can't even get my mind around how many times you jumped the shark with your neoconservative nonsense up there.

But you simply regurgitate the paranoid rantings of the dead enders of the administration. It's Dick Cheney talking point analysis. The only thing missing are links to Little Green Footballs and Freerepublic.com.

Sorry, but the horrid little neoconservative experiment is over. Iraq is in a civil war. We'll come crawling out of there with our tails tucked between our legs soon enough.

This one will have greater long term impact than even Vietname on suppressing future efforts of American presidents to embroil us in quagmire.

So I guess those 3000 Americans died for something worthy after all.

Soon, you right wing warbloggers are gonna have to get out of your cheez whip stained pajamas and come up the basement stairs and rejoin society.

and of course this:

Do you realize that you and Flopping Faces and Malkin and Powerline, Little Green Snotballs, Instacracker and the rest of the warbloggers out in the fever swamps are truly making a difference?

Yes. Unfortunately, it's probably not what you all intended unless by "difference" you're ok with it meaning "source of mocking and amusement" or "what happens when tinfoil overheats."
