A Democrat’s Trip Paid By Terrorists

Loading

Nothing shows the bias more in a news organization then when they decide to leave the party affiliation out of a article when it concerns a Democrat:

CHICAGO — Rep. Danny Davis is on the defense Thursday over a recent trip that was sponsored by a known terrorist group.

Davis and an aide went to Sri Lanka last year on a trip paid for by the Tamil Tigers. That group is on the government’s list of known terrorists groups for its use of suicide bombers and child soldiers.

Davis maintains he didn’t know the Tigers paid for the trip.

Wha-wha-what! A politician took an all expense paid for trip to Sri Lanka at the expense of a known terrorist group and they leave out the simple fact that he is a DEMOCRAT!

A little more backstory on this event:

Chicago congressman Danny Davis and an aide took a trip to Sri Lanka last year that was paid for by the Tamil Tigers, a group that the U.S. government has designated as a terrorist organization for its use of suicide bombers and child soldiers, law-enforcement sources said.

Davis’ seven-day trip came under scrutiny this week following the arrests of 11 supporters of the organization on charges of participating in a broad conspiracy to aid the terrorist group through money laundering, arms procurement and bribery of U.S. officials.

The five-term Democratic congressman said he was unaware that the Tigers paid for the trip and on his required congressional disclosure form he reported that the trip was paid for by a Tamil cultural organization, the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America, based in Hickory Hills, Ill.

During the visit, Davis spent most of his time in a region controlled by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, as the group is formally known, and visited the organization’s political headquarters. He also met with a police chief for the region appointed by the Tigers.

Ok then, that ignorance defense appears to be a bit weak huh?

But at least this news report actually called him a Democrat. What do you think the headline of such an article would be if he was a Republican? “Republican Congressman’s trip scrutinized”….but no:

Davis’ Tamil trip scrutinized

Lets take a look at other MSM outfits:

Davis: I’ve seen no evidence terrorist group funded Sri Lanka trip

Congressman’s Sri Lanka trip questioned

Terrorists funded congressman’s trip

Rebel group funded congressman’s trip to Sri Lanka, sources say

Doing a google search with Tamil and Davis used as the search words comes up with four pages of returns….none of the headlines mention he is a friggin DEMOCRAT.

But if any Republican gets in the news the first word in any headline is REPUBLICAN.

No bias here.

Simply amazing. A Democratic politician took a trip paid entirely by a terrorist organization and the media yawns……

UPDATE 0945hrs PST

More information here:

“As recently as this past Saturday, Davis talked in Chicago with a supporter of the Tamil Tigers who was among 11 people arrested on charges of conspiring to aid the rebel group through money laundering, procurement of arms, including surface-to-air missiles, and bribery of public officials.

“That Tamil Tiger supporter, Murugesu Vinayagamoorthy, was described in a federal criminal complaint as a high-level operative who served as an intermediary between the Tigers’ leaders and foreign backers. The complaint charges that he offered a $1 million bribe to an undercover FBI agent posing as a State Department official in an attempt to remove the Tamil Tigers’ designation as a terrorist organization.

[…]”The Tamil supporter contacted the congressman’s office again last week seeking a chance to brief Davis on events in Sri Lanka, where violence between the government and Tamil Tigers has flared anew. Vinayagamoorthy arranged to do so while walking alongside Davis Saturday for 10 blocks during the congressman’s annual “Back to School” Parade in Chicago, Davis said.

“The criminal complaint against Vinayagamoorthy asserts that he had “direct and frequent contact” with leaders of the rebel group and was “often dispatched” to facilitate Tamil Tiger projects around the world.”

Without mentioning Davis or his aide by name, the complaint describes a series of transactions in which Vinayagamoorthy and others charged in the case allegedly laundered $13,150 in Tamil Tiger funds at the direction of a top guerilla leader to pay for travel of “two individuals” to Tamil-controlled Sri Lanka. The two individuals were Davis and Cantrell, law enforcement officials said.

Apparently this Congressman issued a statement earlier which stated a orphanage that was bombed by the Sri Lanka Air force was the same one he had visited on this trip and the ones killed were the ones he met:

Few hours before the newspaper exposure was published this correspondent contacted his Chicago office and indicated to them that we wanted to ask him about his statement regarding an alleged bombing of an orphanage by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

This correspondent said he wanted to know how the Congressman came to the conclusion that the ones killed were the same orphan girls he said he visited during his trip to Kilinochchi, last year. A man named Ira Cohen who answered on behalf of him was unable to answer the question, quite agitated and on several occasions threatened to end the conversation accusing this correspondent that an attempt was being made to put words in his mouth.

This correspondent wanted to get matters clarified since the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam had used the congressman’s statement for propaganda purposes, and had distributed his statement among the United Nations representatives in New York by passing a hand out in front of the United Nations building.

This quite a scandal in my mind but good luck in finding a news report that states in big bold letters that he is a Democrat.

Why is it that leftist Jews who run the NY Times are more anti-Israel than Al Jazeera?…

I can provide some insight into this, because as a non-Jew I’ve asked the question on LGF and elsewhere. Pinch Sulzberger is actually Episcopalian, though ethnicly Jewish. His Ochs-Sulzberger family owner-predecessors at the helm of the NTY were all Jewish too, but of the distinctly self-hating kind. As a result, the paper has a long history of hostility to Israel.

A.M. Rosenthal was the top Editor of the NYT for decades, and as a Jew I don’t think he shared the above pathology (or at least so I’ve been given to understand). Thus, the NYT was more supportive of Israel during his tenure.

When Rosenthal left and Pinch took over, it was like Kaiser Wilhelm II firing Bismarck. All sense of moderation, not to mention the NYT’s prior reputation as “The Paper of Record,” disappeared into the black hole of Pinch’s insane left-wing moonbattery.

Now look, I’m the first to admit I’m no expert on the NYT, but if you ask others more knowledgable, I think you’ll get confirmation that the above is basically correct.

The subject of Jewish self-hatred is rather complex. One blogger I like, Benjamin Kerstein, has a whole blog devoted to Noam Chomsky, another infamous, intellectually dishonest and despicable Jewish anti-Semite. See diary of an anti-chomskyite.

At bottom, I think the hostility of many insane left wing Jews to Israel has something to do with a twisted hatred of winners in military conflicts. Given their history of persecution, Jews have historically favored the underdog. When Israel won so decisively in 1967, they created a psychological disconnect in the minds of these left wingers that caused them to combine self-hatred with sympathy for Isreal’s enemies. It’s now become a whole sick tradition among the Jewish radical left. How else, really, does one explain Noam Chomsky or the likes of Medea Benjamin, the toxic A**hole who founded Code Pink?

Just my two bits.

You got it Carol, I gave up on the dummy sometime ago, big waste of time.

Don’t feed the troll.

Is that your strategy? Just close your eyes and wish “they” would go away? How about actually engaging someone with a different opinion? If you spend your entire life surrounded by nothing but people you agree with, you could really get yourself in some tight spots, and end up believing weird things like that there were WMDs in Iraq or that Iraq had anything at all to do with the 9/11 attacks.

You’ve got to admit that this post is pointless. It accomplishes nothing. Now, if ANY Congressman is appecting money from or is in any way involved with terrorists, I would consider that to be news-worthy, regardless of their political affiliation. However, this post is simply whining about how the word “Democrat” wasn’t in the heading of any of the articles that were sited. Even on that point it proves nothing, because a conservative publication was given as proof of MSM bias, and it didn’t even have the “Democrat” in its entire article! So, like I said, it’s pointless.

Oh, and how about the President admitting the other day that there were no WMDs in Iraq? That was good info to add in there with all of the Saddam Documents that “prove” something about Saddam’s WMDs.

If you don’t feed ’em…they won’t come back. Heh.

:eat:

Carol

This is amazing for me, first I’m hearing about it (thank you) also, his comment “I couldnt imagine for what” regarding a possible investigaton-get a clue!
