If the media could only see how closely their actions seem to our government's in the 1960's ... but I don't think there is a chance of that. They have themselves become what they would claim to protect us from. They are pompous, patronizing, condescending, and arrogant. They are placing our troops and our communities at great risk by exposing government programs that not only should be done, but are supported by a large majority of the people.

When the "grass roots" organizes and begins to march on the NYT, LAT, and WaPo, maybe they will come to their senses, or maybe they will react just as a pompous, patronizing, condescending, and arrogant administration did in the 1970's. The main difference this time is we are going to see regular people, people with jobs and influence in their communities doing the marching this time, not college students cutting a class.

The Times has stepped on it bigtime. It is one thing to go against someone's political agenda, you can get used to that. It is something else entirely to place people's friends and family at unneccessary risk of being killed or injured.

I no longer watch the MSM Talking Heads shows on Sundays. It's way too much of a self-congratulation society for me to stomach anymore. Like the old days of ratherbiased.com -- "Watching CBS News so you don't have to" -- I rely on blogs to keep me informed.

It's remarkable how the MSM always waves the "chilling effect" bloody shirt when the reason for the pressure is their own gross irresponsibility. Why do they think they're the only ones with a right to criticize? Doesn't the Administration have free speech rights too?

I am tired of all the "chilling effect" bullshit. The Government can't prevent disclosure of state secrets ("prior restraints") except in the most extreme circumstances (maybe). But that doesn't mean the MSM should be unaccountable for gross violations of national security masquerading as "news." I want to see the NYT vigorously prosecuted for violating the Espionage Act. Maybe then they will start to get a clue. I think its the only way to impress on these arrogant bastards that they too are accountable.
